Movie Recommendations/Want To See List
« Topic Start: January 06, 2012, 03:20:58 AM »
So I watched 30 Minutes or Less and Limitless tonight...

30 Minutes or Less wasn't put together all that well but I enjoyed it.

Limitless was entertaining though.

I just watched Crimes and Misdemeanors for a class... I am extremely troubled/depressed right now.

It's pretty crappy if I remember.

Saw Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Man that's an intense movie. It moves really slowly, and there's almost no action per se, but the screw keeps getting tighter and tighter and tighter. When I walked out of the theatre I felt paranoid and jumpy and didn't trust anybody. Also, the cast is completely amazing. John Hurt, Toby Jones, Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Strong, Tom Hardy... and Gary Oldman keeps stealing every scene from them just by standing there.

Can't wait to see it!

Not sure if you've seen The Debt... but if you have, does TTSS have more or less action?

I think I'll probably wait a couple years to get it on a random Wal-Mart trip and find it for $7.99.

Saw "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" this weekend.  Haven't read the book or seen the original but it was really good.  A little long but overall I give it an A-.

This matches my feelings on it aside from the length - I don't mind long movies.

Oh, me neither but when I've had 5L of water prior it gets to be painful at the two hour mark.  Great movie though, I plan on watching the original this week.

Haven't seen The Debt... TTSS has no chases or explosions, but a spy walks into a trap, the Soviets bump some people off, there's an interrogation scene, and a few people get shot.

Sounds like the typical WNFF winter meet up.

Oh hey, Ciaran Hinds is in both movies. Cool.

PS the final sequence is shivery-good filmmaking.

Sounds like the typical WNFF winter meet up.

Does anyone else think "Haywire" looks stupid and like a flop waiting to happen?  I can't believe the star power they put together for that movie just to put some MMA chick who probably can't act at the center of it all.

That's what I've always thought.

All those stars... and an MMA girl.

I don't get it.

Though, after five reviews it's still 100% fresh on RT.

True, but look at what the reviews actually say.  I swear I've seen the exact same kind of reviews on rotten ratings for other movies before

I guess it's just a matter of perspective and whether or not you get something out of watching a moderately attractive she-hulk beating up on everyone for 90 minutes.
