In the second fight when Bane went into super speed punching... I was losing it! Tom Hardy did a great job.

A delicious movie with authentic east Texas atmosphere, deranged hilarity, and a bravura performance by Jack Black. Shirley MacLaine's botox makes it hard for her face to express emotion, but she's more than compensated for by the "townspeople" interviewed throughout (about 50/50 actors and real Carthage, TX residents who sat for Richard Linklater's camera). One such townswoman, whose name isn't listed on IMDb because she's a real local but who's featured in the trailer (she says "a lotta people woulda shot her for five dollars"), more or less steals the entire movie. Some of them nearly push Matthew McConaughey off the screen, though he paints the courtroom scenes with a wonderful veneer of slime.

Bunches of fun.

Saw Ted today. Liked it, but wonder if I should have seen the Dark Night instead?

Can't wait for Anchorman 2

the book was good, but it's going to take some genius to pull of a movie version

I liked the book, too.  Will be interesting to see how they translate it to a movie.

at least it'll be a topic worthy of a standalone thread, unlike some of the crap on the main page of clubhouse.

Dark Knight Rises was epic.  Yes I know that word is overused, it's still deserved in this case.

What makes it awesome is that Bigelow was already working on it before they killed Bin Laden, and they had to (uh) alter the ending. Well, and also that The Hurt Locker was just about the most amazing war movie I've ever seen.

No I have. It's neither good nor a "war movie"

I'm tempted to agree that it's not a war movie, but it's friggin' amazing.
