Ballpark and area news
« Topic Start: January 09, 2012, 03:29:45 PM »
What the heck. There seems to be a need for a thread re news about the park and the surrounding area. Might be a good place to post news about neighborhood development, changes to the park, park vendor updates, etc.

A great site for 'hood news is jdland.com. JD just posted some great shots of the now cleared Florida Rock property. It gives a nice view of the waterfront and its potential. See

From JD at http://www.jdland.com/dc/index.cfm/3610/Boilermaker-Shops-Now-With-More-Windows-and-a-Mezzanine/

Do you get excited about new windows? Then this latest batch of photos of the Boilermaker Shops rehab is for you!

But, in addition to all the new glass, you can also see that the construction of the mezzanine level has begun as well. (There's a rendering midway down the page of how the mezzanine level will look, if you're having a hard time envisioning it.)

If you're just joining us, this is the project at the Yards that will bring six restaurants to this historic building by the end of 2012: a brewery by the Birch and Barley/Churchkey Folks, Austin Grill Express, BRB burger joint, Huey's 24/7 Diner, Buzz Bakery, and Willie's Brew and 'Que.

And, speaking of restaurants at the Yards, interested parties will like to hear that construction has begun on the Potbelly Sandwich Works shop in the ground floor of the Foundry Lofts building, just south of Boilermaker on the southeast corner of 3rd and Tingey. It is expected to open this spring, as is Kubra Thai and Sushi, which just received its building permit last week for its space in Foundry's southwest corner, just north of the Yards Park.

great news - you know, if they could ever do something with the lots directly across from the CF gate (especially the gas station), this could be a pretty nice area.  I wonder if they would ever consider putting a larger team store across the street.

Is this heaven?

Gone are the days of extoling the virtues of Operative Plasterers & Cement Masons Local Union No 891 after batting practice. Damn red & blue clad yuppies.

Please, those clowns are too busy making sure their Restoration Hardware furnished condos and child-substitution dogs aren't disrupted by the ruckus from the ballpark.

Instead of complaining about the fireworks, they could have timed their weekly nookie with them and made it *all about them.* But no.

The pugification of the inner city has a BIG financial upside

Especially if you sell plastic bags to people that enjoy picking up dog poop.

No.  Though pugification might include jack russell terriers, yorkies, and bichons frise.  Really any dogs that get along with adopted Chinese babies.

Now, now.  I've already said Pink and Floyd are adorable bundles of awesomeness, as I suspect many of the dogs of said agents of administrivia are as well.  Just saying - don't stop my fireworks because you moved next to a baseball stadium.

True.  I'm not talking about real people though, I'm talking about the soulless yuppies that are fodder for the coming class war.

Bichon Frise?  how is that pronounced?  B!tch on Fries?  must be popular at Philadelphia singles bars.
