Never lost power but Suckass (Comcast) just died.  Very strange to say the least.

Mine still hasn't come back either (the advantages in my case, though, of watching very little telly).

Dominion currently showing 167k customers in Northern Virginia still out.

Even when Comcast was out last night, for some reason we could still get Channel 8

Asscast came back on around midnight last night.

It caused me to miss "True Blood" and the last of the Dodgers-Mets game.  There will be no justice until Asscast is made to pay for those mistakes!

911 is a joke.

I've only had to use when my daughter fell and busted her jaw, and the respone time was under five minutes, so I have no problem with the way fairfax handles  it

911 is a joke.

911 got flooded with idiots who called them about the power being out.

I prefer for 911 to be flooded with morons calling about Burger King not having lemonade or McDnalds forcing them to eat food they don't want.  Also, you missed the joke which isn't a surprise.

I actually caught this reference. Unlike the time I thought you had an unnatural obsession with soft rock, wammy bars, and fighter pilots.

I missed Coleman the first time aroound although I did follow him and the Geto Boys through the horrorcore legacy after the fact. Spotify is a wonderful thing.

Which Coleman are you referring to?  Big L?  As far as I'm concerned it's Big L then Nas and then everybody else.  Big L rest in peace.  Full clip.

interesting look at the heat wave, how historic it is, and the likelihood that it continues for a while:

Meanwhile, greenland's ice melt is accelerating (http://www.climatecentral.org/news/greenland-ice-sheet-reflectivity-near-record-low-research-shows/)

Good thing there's no such thing as global warming.  sigh.....

Still no power, still not internet (at home), but we have phone and Comcast... and a gas guzzling, noisy-ass generator that keeps the well water pumping and the beer cold.

There was a bucket truck sighting, but I think it's off looking for bigger fish to fry. My seven-house cul-de-sac in the Land of Sublime Living™, Gaithersburg, Maryland will be off the grid until Friday, earliest. That's my prediction.

Salvation. A fleet of bucket trucks from Florida Power and Electric came and fixed the power lines on my street. I'm consuming energy like a coal industry lobbyist tonight. If it has a switch, it's on. If it can be turned up, it is.
