I don't know if he is bad luck or he gets bad luck happening to him.  For example, he's engaged to only the second prettiest child Tom Brady's folks had.

Pity poor Kevin Youkilis.

Next you're going to be saying "Pity Poor Tom Brady".

Tom married Giselle because, as a pro athlete, he's in it for the money.

Giselle married Tom because, as a supermodel, she's in it for the looks.

Shields 8 IP 13 K in line to get the loss. Luckbox Miguel Gonzalez pitched 6.2 scoreless. Now up to the pens.

And Ibanez wins it in the 12th.

First place still belongs to the Yanks, with Kuoroda vs. Dice-K tomorrow.

IF the NYY were going to win, why couldn't it have been Soriano to get the W, so at least my fantasy team gets a benefit?

Need saves out of either Soriano or Nathan (or Koji) today, and a couple of dingers out of Adam Jones, Josh Hamilton, Ichiro, Derek Norris, or Keith Moreland would help, among contenders.

clinches the wild card for the cards so they can dog it in the last game v. Cinci.  may impact best record.
I do have to wonder whether forcing St. L, Atl, and Cinci into one bracket so only one comes out might be the best thing for the Nats.  Gammons today said that his NL picks were either Cinci or ATL based on their bullpens, with Cinci's starting pitching being set up well.

can anyone figure out the AL playoff seedings?
« Reply #3137: October 03, 2012, 08:55:39 AM »
I have not worked through all the tiebreakers, but I think the following is true.

Were the NYY to win today, they'd get the top seed (95-67).

Best of the west - Oakland or Texas - will finish 94-68.  Loser will be 93-69.

Were the NYY to lose and the O's to win, they would have a tiebreaker game, with the winner getting the top seed (95 - 68) and the loser (94-69) hosts the wild card game.

O's win today and and NYY wins, the Os host the WC game (94-68).

Don't ask me what happens if both NYY and the Os lose.  NYY would tie with the West winner at 94-68, and the Os would tie with the west runner up at 93-69.

Didn't it start here independently?  I'm not saying Twitter didn't do it first, but I believe its use here was unrelated.
