Larry Broadway in the news... but not for a good thing.

He's the new Farm Director for the Pirates... and on his watch, one of their top players went down with an injury doing their stupid marine drills we've talked about in the past.

http://triblive.com/sports/dejankovacevic/2819385-74/pirates-polanco-baseball-players-team-hell-month-prospects-week-ankle#axzz29xfwc3PE

Holy crap, Kovacevic really buries the lead. The Pirates organization is a disaster, Larry Broadway's clearly an idiot, and they're abusing and injuring their own players and then turning around and lying to it. I've never heard of players and parents writing to reporters saying "I wish I never signed with this team."

I was googling Rick Ankiel because of the recent news (he wants to pitch again, apparently) and found the strangest video I've seen on youtube - and it's an Ankiel tribute!?

But seriously, if Ankiel could somehow learn to work as a LOOGY, he'd be awesome.  He throw hard, and if a team tries to bring in righty batters, he can slide to the OF and then be brought back in the next batter if the team at bat tries to PH a lefty. Use him as a defensive sub in the OF and just have him as a threat to come in if the hitting team runs lefties up.

He needs to take the initiative. Playing winter ball would be a good way to judge where he stands but he may need to play indy ball to get steady work.

It would be amazing if he could get back to the show.  I'm definitely pulling for him and I hope the nats give him a chance.

Interesting, he hasn't tweeted about it yet.

Rather, he's trying to setup a fishing outing with Dc_Beast38.

Captain Calamari!

This is a good signing for Collin to go to Texas. As JD said they have been after him for 6 years. I hope they just let him go out there and pitch.
  Maybe a Rangers/Nationals World Series in 2013!
There are no better bloggers than WNFF! I do miss being in the " Mix" on this board.
Have a great winter... Go Nats... Go Rangers... Go Ballystar!

Spinman - as a fitness guy, curious if you have reactions to Lance / Postal / Discovery.  If you do, there is a cycling thread in the red loft.

Bottom of the ninth, Nats up by five. Who comes in to close? Brad Lidge. Who? Brad Lidge! Nats go on to lose by thirty runs.

I still miss good old Wil Nieves, if only because I don't get to see that MASN ad anymore.
