I need another Linux Distro.
« Topic Start: December 11, 2011, 12:23:53 PM »
Seems like Ubuntu 11.10 is running sluggish on my two laptops. and one of them is dual core, so thats strange. might be the Unity interface doing it. (which is a shame, cause I kinda like it).

I need something lighter, but as accessible as Ubuntu is.

suggestions?

Linux Mint maybe?

Why not just a lighter window manager for Ubuntu?  Or one of the specific lighter Ubuntu versions, such as Xubuntu with xfce or Lubuntu LXDE which is even lighter than xfce (I think).

Last I checked, mint was just another Ubuntu variant with proprietary drivers and things such as mp3 support included.  It still uses gnome, so I doubt it'd be any faster than regular Ubuntu.

yeah I am going to try Lubuntu.  Heard good things about it.

really i just want a more smooth interface and overall pc performance, but still having access to Ubuntu repositories and such.
