Baseball hat thread
« Topic Start: November 15, 2011, 03:40:09 PM »
I asked our resident 59Fifty expert, MDS, where the hat thread was and he informed me that we didn't have one. If there is one, just point me in the right direction.

I just picked up this bad boy.

MarlinsDeSade, blow us away with your collection.

Thanks for making this thread bro!  Here's the hat I wore today:

Here's my collection as of today.  Obviously there are a few missing (two new Miami Marlins, last years Orioles, and a replacement alternate Brewers) but these are all of my 59fifty on-fields:

The HJIC at my new job is a huge O's fan so, since I was meeting with him after lunch, thought I'd make his day by wearing that one.  He ordered one right after our meeting after I told him they were going back to their cartoon logo.

Have no fear though, the Nasty Nats are tops with at least 10 on-field caps.

I don't like fitted hats. I can never get the bills curved right or the size correct. Plus, my hat size fluctuates based on how long my hair is and the fitted hats are freaking expensive. Thus, I only wear adjustables.

...and the fitted hats are freaking expensive.

Once New Era switched over to the wicking material I found that the hats didn't shrink and last much, much longer.  I buy most of my hats from eBay through one or two resellers at deep, deep discount but, from time-to-time, I'll buy hats from Lids using my Lids 20% off card.

Since I don't drink, do illicit substances, smoke, or buy music equipment like I did in the past I give myself a hat a week allowance of $30.  That used to be what I spent on the pregame before really hitting the bottle hard back in the day...

I'll take a picture of all mine when I have a minute. My collection is less impressive since my head decided to Barry Bonds grow inexplicably and I had to give away a ton of hats. I had a green Boston hat that would surely induce vomiting from some here. I pretty much only have Nats hats, but attending games when traveling and buying hats of home teams.

MDS, what size hat do you wear?

I agree!  The caps that are used for patriotic occassions are always fitted!  >:(

There are new holiday caps in the mlb catalog but not in Nats!

By baseball hat, do you only mean baseball team hats or can it be baseball-style caps?  I have one blue hat, mesh with plastic adjustment snaps, that is from a rally I went to in 1984.  It says "Boston Lights the Way to Victory Mondale-Ferraro."  I did not pick up another political souvenir for 8 years, I think, believing my collection was jinxed.

Baseball, I have one of the cool road Seattle hats from the year they changed the logo - Green bill, dark blue skull piece.  I have 3 Red Sox - "Schilling", my lucky hat from 2007 and I think 2004, blue cotton; an old wool hat with adjustable snaps that I think dates from the early Pedro era, but could be a 1980s model; and a patriotic B fitted hat.  I threw my hanging sox hat into 4 mile run the last Sunday of the regular season.  For the Nats, I have a blue DC logo that I like and a red curly W home hat.  I have 3 Os hats, but did not pay for any (an HTS white give away with cartoon bird, a departure gift from my Boston office that is a classic cartoon bird model - fitted, so it does not fit, and a black Miller give away with the orangutanically correct bird).  I also have a NYY hat, which I bought in 2003 for Halloween, and was given a Yankee Hater hat.

I'll skip the 3 Pats, 3 Yale, Bruce Springsteen, Sam Adams hats...

edit 11/16 AM - I forgot my 3d Nats hat, the Miller Lite give away with the red bill, white and blue skull, and the new logo in front.

Nice microwave.

It came with the place.

It says "Boston Lights the Way to Victory Mondale-Ferraro."  I did not pick up another political souvenir for 8 years, I think, believing my collection was jinxed.

No doubt, I have a fitted Hagerstown Suns hat I got at the game when Ryan Zimmerman was there this past season. Size 8 and it's a bit snug... Hopefully some impending weight loss will help shrink the size of my gourd.

If someone wants to ask the Chief, I'll take a bet to change my name if the Marlins don't land a major FA.  :)
