I'd like to see Utley hang out over the plate against Henry

Detwiler beaned him with 94, too bad it missed the bone.

Davey Johnson doesn't know how to handle Starting Pitching.

Complete game shutout would have been sweet.  It's all good though--H-Rod's got this..

The Nats are at that place in their development where they can play up to the level of the good teams, and down to the level of the bad teams.

I'm gonna miss baseball in October.
Okay,
1. How did we get 11 hits against their A-team?
2. How has Ross Detwiler cruised through 7 innings with just 2 hits but just 3 Ks?

Is Det getting all the ground balls, heeman? I'm stoked for him.

Ever since Blue said that I always hope that Boss will make this his walkout music, the original one by Prince, not this hot mess.

Davey Johnson doesn't know how to handle Starting Pitching.

He handles his bullpen worse than he handles his starters.

Anyway, Detwiler was showing signs of fatigue for whatever reason, but I don't really agree with the decision. Maybe if we had better bullpen options for this game I'd feel differently.

His contempt for the pitching arts is far less than Frank Robinson's though.

Okay, I really really do not understand the pitching change.

He was missing up in the zone and looked fatigued, even though that doesn't compute when factoring in his pitch count. Also, since Detwiler has struggled to go late in games maybe he wanted to give Det 7+ innings of success to build his confidence.

Not saying I agree with it, but that's what I came up with for reasoning.

Davey Johnson doesn't understand pitchers, period.  The concept of the "left handed specialist" particularly confounds him.  Having to use a pitcher for just one batter is too much for his 68 year old mind to grasp.

Hmm. Maybe it's just that Detwiler is not used to going deep into games. I wonder how many times he has actually pitched well enough to throw 100. My guess is, not a lot.
