NFL Divisional Playoffs Predictions Thread
« Topic Start: January 11, 2007, 03:44:56 PM »
I got one wrong last weekend, thanks to Tony Romo's screwup.  The Seahawks had plenty of time to retake the lead anyway, if they'd gotten that field goal.  Teams that make it to the Super Bowl usually have fewer injuries to key players.  My predictions:

Indianapolis over Baltimore.
My upset special.  Jamal Lewis ain't what he used to be, and the Ravens have ignored Mike Anderson all year.  Colts have a good pass defense and McNair has aged too.

Philadelphia loses at New Orleans.
Eagles defensive coordinator has done great in the past without key players.  Lito Sheppard is a costly loss and the Saints have a lot of weapons.  That stadium will be ROCKING!

Seattle loses at Chicago.
It may not be the blowout we saw earlier, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Griese, if Grossman throws 2 INTs.  Sean Alexander's main blocker plays for the Vikings, and there's no replacement for what the tall Jurevicius could do.  Turnovers will decide the game.

New England loses to San Diego.
Schottenheimer still has a chance to choke in the playoffs next week.  The Patriots have way too many injuries.  Everyone will focus on Tomlinson and Gates, but watch for a bomb to WR Vincent Jackson for the Chargers.

Baltimore - I really want Indy to win but I hear a rapping at the Colts chamber door.

New Orleans - I think this has the potential to be a close game but NO has something to prove and a hometown to fight for.  Plus:  Puck Fhilly.

Chicago - Seahawks are darn lucky that Romo is a moron.  That luck runs out here.

San Diego - Another potentially great game.  I am going to go with the Chargers on this one.

If your team name starts with a C or an S , your team will win this week.
Colts over Ravens
I feel confident that Peyton and Co. will take care of business in B-more and advance to the AFC Championship game next week.  The only way the Ravens win is if their defense forces turnovers and puts their offense in good positions to score.  Mcnair and Jamal Lewis simply cannot put up enough points to keep up with the Colts.
Saints over Eagles
This should be a very close game that will come down to the end.  I think the mix of McCallister, Bush, and Brees will be too much for the Eagles' average defense to handle.
Seahawks over Bears
I think the Seahawks are not a very good team at all but they should be able to beat the Bears.  This one is similar to the Colts/Ravens game.  Grossman and the rest of the Bears offense is just putrid and will struggle again in this one.  Your defense can only take you so far.
Chargers over Patriots
This will be a fairly close game.  I hate to pick against Tom Brady in the playoffs (Career Playoff Record of 11-1) but I feel the Chargers are the real deal.  They have a great defense led by Shawne Merriman and a superb offense with the phenom, LT, and a steady hand at QB in Phillip Rivers.  The Patriots will probably try to shut down LT and force Rivers to beat them.  I think Rivers will step up and have a solid game.

Indianapolis @ Baltimore
Philadelphia @ New Orleans
Seattle @ Chicago
New England @ San Diego

I will be keeping track of how many each poster's record.  HOWEVER, the person with the most right is the winner, keeping the record is only for fun.  Only people who made predictions in Wildcard Weekend will be counted.

4-0.......2k6nats
4-0.......Senators2005
4-0.......Vladman1327
3-1.......Ali the Baseball Cat
3-1.......ColtonWillems

We still need predictions from:

Vladman1327
Kenz aFan
Ali the Baseball Cat
ColtonWillems
Nats19
The Chief
Dave B

Actually, if someone didn't predict the Wild Card weekend, they still could surpass everyone else, if everyone is wrong, and we look at Most Correct, instead of Fewest Wrong.

Thanks to The Chief for putting the Chief's Photoshopped Cheeseburger pic on my sig, along with Austin "AK47" Kearns, and Zim's Walkoff pic from the Yankees game.

Thanks for volunteering to keep track, but the word wrong just doesn't sit well with me. Would I be asking too much if I asked you to change the chart so it looks more like:

No problem, I'll change it.  It will reflect record, BUT the winner will be the person with the most right, instead of percentage.  This prevents someone from predicting the SuperBowl correctly, therefore winning with 1.000%.

Can't beleive the Ravens let Baltimore down like that...against the team that abandoned them back in '84.  What a shameful performance when the city was so looking forward to sticking it to the Colts at home in the post season.

I know it's a little late now but I was calling for Ravens, Bears, Saints, and Patriots, so take that if you want (would make me 1-1 so far this weekend and 2-3 overall)

Your Wild Card totals are wrong:

3-1.......ColtonWillems  should be 2-2

KC over Colts - wrong
Seattle over Dallas
Patriots over Jets
Giants beat Eagles ? wrong

3-1.......Ali the Baseball Cat ? should be 2-2
Colts over KC
Cowboys over Seattle - wrong
Patriots over Jets
"Eagles and Giants end the game in a 0-0 tie, whereupon the stadium collapses, killing both teams and all of their fans, removing the illness of the NFC East from the otherwise-robust playoffs." Um, WRONG!

nats2playoffs ? you omitted my Wild Card picks, which were 3-1,
making me 5-1 now with Sat. results:

Chiefs at Colts.   Colts win?
Cowboys at Seahawks. Dallas wins?- wrong
Jets at Patriots. Patriots'...
Giants at Eagles. Eagles...
How could you skip me when I had posted THIS thread, AND...

Updated standings reflecting the first two weeks:

7-1.....2k6nats
7-1.....Vladman1327
6-2.....Kenz aFan
6-2.....nats2playoffs
5-3.....Nat of the LivingDead
5-3.....sportsfan882
4-4.....The Chief
4-4.....Senators2005
4-2.....Nats19
3-5.....Dave B
3-1.....Ali the Baseball Cat
2-2.....ColtonWillems

Standings are based upon:
1. Correct predictions
2. Overall # of predictions
3. Recent correct predictions
(If the first two criterias don't break the tie, the tie will be broken with whoever correctly predicted more of the last set of games.)

If all of these criterias don't break the tie, than it will stand as just that, a tie.

Notables:
-Senators2005 predicted all of the games correctly in Week 1, then went 0-4 in Week 2.
-Nats19, Ali, and Colton are the only three posters who participated and have not predicted all the games.  Coincidentally, they are in the bottom three.
-Dave B, 2k6nats, and Nats19 are the only three posters to have successfully predicted New England as the winner of the NE/SD game.

Current ties:
(7-1) 2k6nats vs. Vladman1327 - remains tie
(6-2) Kenz aFan vs. nats2playoffs - remains tie
(5-3) Nat of the LivingDead vs. sportsfan882 - remains tie
(4-4) Senators2005 vs. The Chief - The Chief went 3-1 this week, and Senators2005 went 0-4.
