The Deserted Island Album Thread

Choose 5 albums that you would want with you if you were to be stranded on a deserted island. No MP3 albums and box sets/double discs count as however many discs are in the set.

Metallica - Master of Puppets
Lynyrd Skynyrd - One More From the Road (double disc)
Led Zeppelin - Early Days: Best of Led Zeppelin Volume One
Van Halen - Van Halen

Little Feat - Waiting for Columbus re-release(double CD set)
Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
Jimmy Buffett - A1A

Those are my essentials, after that it is less clear.

Today maybe: John Hiatt - Crossing Muddy Waters

The Wall is a double album, which throws you over the 5 disk maximum.

The Wall is an album. If it wasn't you would have said "The Wall are an Albums"

Hey, if not for the limit I would have taken the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's 3 lp collection "Dirt, silver and gold" instead of the Hiatt CD.

It was between those two or my favourite Miles album - "Live-Evil".

Refreshments- Fizzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy (best drinking album ever- and alone on an island I'd probably do a lot of that)

The Cure- Disintegration

That's one I might put in place of one of the Miles Davis albums.  Perfect from start to finish.

The reason I've been so slow to post is that I've only positively decided on three.

Beatles - Rubber Soul
Buena Vista Social Club - self-titled
Astor Piazzolla - Tango: Zero Hour

*Note: if classical music counts I have a different list for that.

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Buzzcocks - Another Music in a Different Kitchen
Gang of Four - Entertainment
The Damned - Machine Gun Etiquette

And it's a ten-way tie for #5, so picking one more or less at random,

The Cramps - Smell of Female

(Houston, Buena Vista Social Club is an excellent call, and if I weren't completely wired on 3 gallons of tea it might have beat out one of the above)

Heh, after MDS' post I'm having a Miles Davis throwdown to decide which of his goes on the list. Currently listening to Ali's pick, Kind of Blue.
