Washington's fifth-round pick in the 2011 Draft out of Georgia Tech... hit 47 home runs in three seasons at GT... full name is Matthew Thomas Skole... Born July 30, 1989 ... son of Michael and Leigh Skole ... father played baseball at Georgia Southern and grandfather, Tom T. Skole, played in the St. Louis Browns organization ... uncle Tony Skole played football and baseball at The Citadel in 1980 ... another uncle, Scott Skole, played football at Troy State in 1978 ... majored in business management at Georgia Tech... Three-year letterwinner for coach Andy Harlin at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School ... captain of the team his senior year ... Led Blessed Trinity to the AAA state championship in 2006 ... School record holder for home runs and RBI in a season and career ... Named the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's 2008 Hitter of the Year ... Fulton County Player of the Year in 2008 and tabbed to the All-Fulton County baseball team in 2007 and 2008... Participated in the Miracle League to benefit disabled children as well as Habitat for Humanity... at Georgia Tech, was 2010 First Team All-ACC Selection ... Named First Team Freshman All-America in 2009 by Collegiate Baseball... became the 12th player in Georgia Tech history to hit 20 home runs in a season in 2010.

He is a big kid At 6"4 230LB's who plays 3B but many think he can slide over to 1B, since he's blocked by Zimmerman and possibly Rendon.

He has been tearing it up so far in Single-A Auburn. Hitting .313/.371/.422 in 16 Games in auburn with 5 Doubles, and 1 Triple.(14 Game Hit-Streak).

I think we found a real steal in this guy, he could rise fast in our system.
