Because it's completely irrelevant given the lineup changes, playing conditions, physical and psychological makeup of the pitchers and players...etc. That and it's totally redonkulous to point to any of those metrics and think you can actually predict anything. If you could, we wouldn't bother playing the game.
Huh? I obviously can't predict an individual pitcher appearance for the reasons you mentioned and more, but I
can make a general statement, like, say, "I don't like our using Mattheus in close games like this." I can't say Zimmerman will get on base here, or even that it's likely, but I still think PHing him for Cora here is a good idea.
