zimmerman told davey he felt some tenderness, but was ready to play.  davey wanted to rest him.

Cubs are a crappy team overall - 35-50, second-worst record in NL, third-worst in MLB. Let's just hope they don't find the Nats to be 'good for what ails them'.

Zimmm and Morse out, Werth in; music to the Cubs ears.

and who gives a crap about going out to seeing certain players.  if you're a fan of the team you go no matter what.[...]

Absolutely...when one has gone through the first 28 years of one's current residency here with no baseball (as I did), it's definitely all about getting to see the team...barring illness, injury or emergency I'm in TBSITH for the remainder of this homestand.

I disagree, while I do go to see the team, missing key players significantly reduces the chances of winning and therefore also reduces some of the excitement in heading out to the park.  Also, missing guys like Zimmm and Morse is certainly disappointing for people who can only go to a few games a year and want to see their favorites on the field.

I agree, all things being equal, why not give them rests on the road?

I was extremely disappointed when I went to the Ms. Iowa start.  Just because you're a fan of the team doesn't mean you don't have the right to be disappointed when you can't see great players.

well of course losing key players hurts your chances of winning.

but i say support the team not the individual.

would i rather go to a game with zimmerman/morse/etc ... of course.  but it wouldn't stop me going if they weren't in the line-up.

The only time I went to old Yankee Stadium (2004), Monument Park was closed for some reason...a minor disappointment, yes, but it didn't ultimately detract from finally being able to attend a match there generally.

Although in this case, Zimmerman and Morse are both hurting, this isn't just a day off to rest, regardless of what the team is saying.  Maybe they will both be back tomorrow, but the news about Zimmerman is of particular concern.

Hopefully it's just a bit sore and nothing more.  It sounded like he wanted to play today, which obviously is a good sign.

I wouldn't skip the game either, but that line-up today sure doesn't get me too hyped up to see the offensive fireworks.

you have to think Marrero is up if Morse is out for any length of time, stairs is probably the worst hitter in the MLB right now

Half our lineup can't go today.  Who is our bench?

Yeah but when it comes to injuries, it's hard to believe what the team releases to the press.  The players always want to play and the medical staff always says that they are day to day.

Sorry the lineups weren't up earlier.  The thread was still locked when I went to the gym.

Let's crush the CHUBS!!!!
