Wow, what a fun game to be at. That was the best non-OD, non-Strasburg crowd that I know of. The stupid Cubs fans were crushed. All my booing of Werth got his lazy butt in gear and then he won the game himself (run scoring ground-out, 10th inning heroics). It was hot as hell but it was worth it. Wahoo!

It was the seventh-highest Nats Park turn-out this season (the following is excerpted from my complete Nats home attendance register):

39,638   Saturday 2nd July 2011 vs Pirates [‘traditional doubleheader’]
39,055   Thursday 31st March 2011 vs Braves [season/home opener]
36,614   Saturday 18th June 2011 vs Orioles
35,562   Friday 17th June 2011 vs Orioles
35,439   Sunday 19th June 2011 vs Orioles
34,789   Monday 30th May 2011 vs Phillies [Memorial Day]
32,937   Monday 4th July 2011 vs Pirates

Not just a good group but a good outcome.

attendance seems to be really picking up, despite no Strasburg and a poorly performing Werth/Zimm.  Winning helps.

Nats attendance is currently up 4.8% over last season (23,651/fixture this season vs 22,568/fixture last season)...we are also 1,900/fixture ahead of the Orioles (who got waffled yesterday at Texas 13-4).

Marmol throws in the mid 90's no where near the velocity of Rodriguez. If I were a betting man, I'd bet that Marmol's success is directly tied to one pitch, his slider. Rodriguez actually has a nice breaking ball (Slider/curve/slurve... whatever) to go along with the 98-100 heater.

The problem with HRod's heater is that if he takes some of the velocity off to gain some control he's going to be very hittable but much more accurate.  I'm just glad he's starting to get it together but I don't trust him in any game that's close.

I agree but think the trade off is werth it, especially if he can still turn it up to 11 on occasion. If he's hitting 95-96 with control and still has a handle on that curve or whatever the hell that thing is, he could be a dominant set up guy.

Hey guys I was at the game yesterday and had a blast! The Cubs fans were good sports who weren't obnoxious to me at all...of course they have nothing to be obnoxious about!

Sat in the PNC Diamond Club and had great seats! The Diamond Club was fantastic. Great food, fun bartenders and of course much needed air conditioning!

I took pics and if you guys would like to see them, I will post them!

Great win too!

GO NATS!

3rd-longest GDT this year behind Cardinals Game 1 and the epic post-Riggleman extra-innings win.

I don't think there would be anything to gain by trying to diminish his velocity. If he was a max effort guy (ala Mitch Williams) I'd be all for it but Rodriguez has easy gas.

P.S. Thanks Heeman82 for the video
