Phil's talkin' about the '68 Senators and WNFF's  ....   Ed Stroud.    :)

That's because Phil doesn't know the "Old Senators", meaning the Griffith team that moved to Minneapolis after 1960. I once asked him about the 1959 team, an all-time baffling team that had Sievers, Killebrew, Lemon, and Allison, plus Camilo Pascual, that played about .500 ball until late July, and then lost 18 or 19 consecutive games...breaking the MLB record. Phil looked blank, suggested that the Nats had "played over their heads" before the losing streak. Not something you would say if you had been a serious, baseball-card-collecting 10 or 12 year old that season.

Sounds like Phil did not follow baseball closely until the expansion Senators.

This show is made for the DVR. When they go on their riffs about the 1968 Senators, I fast forward. I love DC baseball history as much as the next guy, but the minutia is a bit much.

Bulletin: They had actual video from last night's game. Only a couple clips but it looks like Angelos actually spent a couple thousand.

Still I'm willing to cut him some slack since he was the only person (apart from Mo Siegel) to continue to advocate baseball in Washington during those empty years. In fact I'm surprised AngelosVision (d/b/a MASN) continues to tolerate him.

Phil Wood being a retard telling us how good Gio's 4.50 ERA is, how he's a bargain, and oh chocolate rations are up this year and be on the lookout from those Eurasians!

Phil Wood trying to rationalize it's ok to take the hand off of 2nd base while being tagged and still be considered safe made me turn off the TV.  It reminded me of how much I dislike that show.

Phil Wood went over the entire roster of the 1965 Milwaukee Braves in reference to the Nats having 6 players with 20+ HRs.

Phil did - he rationalized that keeping the tag on and calling the runner out if he slips off the bag is against the spirit of the game.

So the hidden ball trick is against the spirit of the game?

Wood and Wallace like Billy Mumy on the Twilight Zone.  It's good that Danny strikes out all the time.

Sal from Leesburg called in to Phil Wood's Game 5 NL Division Series post game loss radio show. He talked about interviewing a famous golfer years ago, about not ever being able to win a big tournament. So he must be a former sports writer or broadcaster.
