Player tracking section?
« Topic Start: July 23, 2005, 01:05:25 PM »
It will give us a place to complain about his defensive errors, failures to drive runners in from third with less than 2 out, and lackadaisical play.

Start a sticky "Vidro Must Go" thread

I'm not sure starting a single player-bashing thread is such a great idea, but you've inadvertently given me an idea for a more general purpose forum that COULD be a possibility.  We could have a general player tracking forum with a running post for each player to track stand-out plays (both good and bad).  This would of course include Vidro ;)

This would still be an awesome idea!

I know, I'm bringing up old threads again :D

Good idea. This would create less clutter in the General Forum. We could have a thread for every player and discuss the every day activities of those players in each players' thread.

Is this about ex-Nats or current Nats?

I'm thinking each nat would have his own thread, and the "ex nats" thread would be sticked in this section (which might be better off as a sub-section of an existing major section...  or not?)

It's a good idea in theory but I wouldn't want it to cause MORE clutter.

The way things go around here I'm already thinking "bad idea" because any thread about anyone almost invariably turns into a discussion about them and 3 or 4 other players if it stays on topic at all.

Current Nats I believe. I was thinking threads sort of like the one I made for Milledge a week ago or so could be moved to this section.

So this would just be for stats? If not, I think it might cause more clutter b/c if we're talking about contracts, trade possibilities, crap talking, and anything else not having to do w/ game-by-game performances, it might throw the thread off more often than not. It might work, but people do seem to go OT a lot and that only seems to work out when there is the possibility of a new thread about the same player but on a different topic.

Just imagine Zimmerman's thread going OT for 3 or 4 pages and only being about Cal Ripken. That could really mess things up. It'd work if the mods want to split threads A LOT, but it might turn into full-time job.

I could be wrong, though.

Ya, the threads would be more than just stats. Any discussions involving the player could be in the thread for each player.

I put in a veto on this idea.

It will cause too many problems, too much stress, will never stay on topic, and its not like we don't already have the stats splashed in whatever corresponding threads anyways to help (or debunk) our debates.

Well I'm beginning to notice just how many player-oriented threads we have already...  maybe each player could have a forum member "sponsor" their thread and keep an eye on it...  perhaps even keep a running stat count in the first post?

Zimmerman is Ripken like in some ways, so if there's a link, why not mention him.  Otherwise, I TRY to keep on Topic!!!   ;)
