Johnson's interviews definitely make a lot more sense than Riggleman's, I'll say that much.
Lineup and decisions made more sense tonight. I still don't like Stairs up there but it worked, so hats off. I can live with what we have but still feel Espy and Morse need to replace Werth and Zim, temporarily.
This is how it should be with the guys we have up right now. IMHO1. Roger Bernadina2. Danny Espinosa3. Ryan Zimmerman4. Mike Morse5. Laynce Nix6. Jayson Werth7. Wilson Ramos8. Ian Desmond9. Pitcher
PH for Desmond which Riggles would not have done.
Davey always has had a good quote tucked away.
Johnson also expressed his hope for another powerful bat off the bench. Aside from pinch hitter Matt Stairs, the Nationals constructed a bench mostly made up of players whose value lies in their speed and defense. Colorfully, Johnson said he wants “a guy sitting over next to me with a big, hairy chest.”
"What did you think of your offense today""Well, it was terrible!"Davey FTMFW!!!
I love that he actually answers questions instead of just mumbling and dissembling with cliches and doublespeak.
"We didn't extend Jim because Davey was ready to manage, but we didn't fire him out of respect."
Where'd that quote come from?
According to the beat reporters, that was the first time Davey Johnson has called a squeeze play......EVER.
Probably the only reason I can approve of its use is that I don't think anyone expected in a million years that Davey would call it. Twice.
My behind
Make's you wonder if there isn't a puppet master in the dug out....If he has never called for a suicide squeeze, ever...who put that idea into his head last night?
My behind It was fictitious and used to illustrate my point.
