Johnson's interviews definitely make a lot more sense than Riggleman's, I'll say that much.

Davey always has had a good quote tucked away.

Lineup and decisions made more sense tonight. I still don't like Stairs up there but it worked, so hats off. I can live with what we have but still feel Espy and Morse need to replace Werth and Zim, temporarily.

This is how it should be with the guys we have up right now. IMHO

1. Roger Bernadina
2. Danny Espinosa
3. Ryan Zimmerman
4. Mike Morse
5. Laynce Nix
6. Jayson Werth
7. Wilson Ramos
8. Ian Desmond
9. Pitcher

If Werth could heat up, I'd switch him and Danny, and then Danny and Nix.

Would be swell.

Davey always has had a good quote tucked away.

From Kilgore in the Nats Journal:

Quote
Johnson also expressed his hope for another powerful bat off the bench. Aside from pinch hitter Matt Stairs, the Nationals constructed a bench mostly made up of players whose value lies in their speed and defense. Colorfully, Johnson said he wants “a guy sitting over next to me with a big, hairy chest.”

Well, if it is a guy with a track record of righty pop who also can give Rizzo the D and speed he likes, the obvious answer is Mike Cameron.  The problem is he needs a long stretch of regular play to straighten out, and he can't DH for us.

Or whatever that silly quote was from the commercial.

I love that he actually answers questions instead of just mumbling and dissembling with cliches and doublespeak.

yup he holds himself and his players accountable.

though he does give his guys a lot of confidence (and i mean A LOT), he still isn't afraid to tell them what they need to work on.  superstar, rookie, aging vet ... doesn't matter who.

According to the beat reporters, that was the first time Davey Johnson has called a squeeze play...

...EVER.

I like Davey more every game. See his jokes about the squeeze, or using Storen.

This was such a masterstroke - hiring a brilliant, successful manager was the best way to keep the players off of Team Riggleman.  "We didn't extend Jim because Davey was ready to manage, but we didn't fire him out of respect."

Probably the only reason I can approve of its use is that I don't think anyone expected in a million years that Davey would call it.  Twice.
