So
- rebuilding a desolate Chernobyl-esque farm system
- running monster drafts
- causing the defense to jump from last to top 5
- having coaches implement new baserunning emphases
- bringing in Marquis, Morse, Werth, Nix, Ramos, Storen, Coffey, and HRod
- expanding a tiny scouting department
- poaching a top Red Sox guy to rebuild in Latin America
- getting lovey-dovey with Scott Boras

...that is ALL outweighed by
- fumbling a mediocre manager's plea for undeserved job security
(and gambling on Chien-Ming Wang I guess  :| )

Sums it up, yes.

see those are the good things that i will applaud them on.  but we can get in the long, dirty laundry list of things they have freaked up on.

I think he's talking about Rizzo, not the Lerners. Not that Rizz hasn't goofed on anything. Just clarifying.

oh.  in that case, we can probably do the same about him too.  let's not act like he is a saint in all of this.

and this is coming from a guy who likes rizzo and has enjoyed his work.

The team has gone from a terrible team with no farm system to a stacked farm system and a dangerous young team.  If Rizzo doesn't get the credit for that, then who does?

Well we wouldn't have Strasburg and Harper if not for the horrible seasons that were a direct result of lack of spending on on-field talent, so in a way....  :mg:

If you're gonna be awful, you might as well be the best at it :stir:

From what I can tell, Rizzo did not have "the conversation" with Riggleman yesterday, mainly because Riggs had brought it up before and Rizzo was like we'll discuss it at the end of the year. So not having the conversation is a bit misleading.

'Mike Rizzo show' coming up on FM-106.7 at 19.00 (not sure if it's a re-run of the earlier show or something new); interview with Riggleman coming up beforehand in a few minutes (again, not sure if new or re-run).

EDIT: The Riggleman interview (on right now) is a re-run from the Junkies this morning.
