I don't understand platooning a left hander. Most starters are righties, and making a team burn a LOOGY is still a good thing. Let Nix play every day.

Even if the rain holds up, at least Lannan went 6. Too bad he only has ~60 pitches, he could have easily gone 8 innings today.

Lannan usually comes back after rain delays.

I hate to be a spoil-sport but it would be soooooo much better if there were men on base for the HR's.

I don't think that will happen.

 I can still imagine our Benedict Arnold announcer crying in the dark.

Can't say I know anything on the topic..

How does rain influence a game? Does the ball carry further, is it harder to see, etc?

all depends ... ball won't usually carry further, but the wet grip could hurt/help the pitcher's grip on the ball (so you could see a mistake).

it can be tough to see, though.

The trainer didn't make a giant X with his arms, so you know Lohse is ok.

By the way, I have to admit, I don't really notice Carp being that much of a homer for the Cards.

He just sounds the same to me.

Same with BJ, PJ, whatever, and the Giants.

I just don't see where Carpenter is pulling for the Cardinals to win.  He seems to me like he's 100% for the Nats. Am I missing something?
