This is where the Nats of 2011 show their stuff by overcoming this latest obstacle and continuing their drive to .500 for the year.

Seriously, I still stand by my prediction of 75 wins. I don't think Rigs resigning will mean much. Like Rigs said, some guys will be happy that he's gone and some won't.

BTW, Espy was in near tears when he was being interview about Rigs. He said he was appreciative that Rigs gave him a shot at the starting job, etc,. I really like this Espy kid. Class act.

Any chance you could post a link to that interview in the player reactions thread?  Would be much appreciated.

R***le**n was holding the team back.

The Nats have hit their stride and will kick tail for the rest of the season.  They'll win at least 85, now.

BOOK IT.  EXPECT IT.

This is where the Nats keep hovering around .500.

This is where the Nats keep hovering around .500.

I predicted they'd finish 10 or 15 games under .500.  I'm fine with hovering around .500 haha.

And your point is what? I would consider one game under as hovering around .500.

I predicted 75 wins before the season and still think that would be good. The Sunshine is bright in Natstown. Enjoy.

JZim to get us to .500 at the break.  No one currently on the roster I'd rather have on the mound.  This is probably a better first half than any of us expected.  Hope the 2nd half can match it.

my point is we're not abov .500.  even if we win sunday, we're just at .500.

as DPM said, not a lot of people expected the nats to be around .500 at the break.  but doesn't mean we should be happy.  i want to contend.

33.33333% of the time that you hover around .500, you are under it. That's in the definition.

That makes no sense.

It's math. If you are hovering around .500, sometimes you are a game or two below .500, sometimes you are a game or two above .500, and sometimes you are .500. Actually, if I were being rigidly correct, you're probably only actually .500 a quarter of the time that you're "hovering around .500."

So you'd be below .500 37.5% of the time?  I'm not sure that your math is quite there yet.  I'm not an expert in probability and statistics, but first I'd want to know a strict definition of "hovering" in this context.

I would be ecstatic if the Nats hovered around .500 all season. I would be, uh, more ecstatic if they contended. I just don't think that's realistic this year. Sorry fellow Sunshine Squad.

Jo zim...Is officially a real ace now...  Stopped the losing streak as an ace would.   Add a strasbto this next year and no one has a 1  2 like this... Phillies aren't close in a year or two.

Braves will be though.  Hanson and Jurjens is a tough combo.

Hanson and Jurrjens are tough. And then there's Teheran to match up with Peacock. Ruh-rohs.

Let's just hope Harper > Heyward :)

Not opening with  Zimmermann is a huge mistake because it takes away our best chance to win the series.  It's a series in the division.  Pushing him back puts him in against HOUSTON, THE WORST TEAM IN MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL!

It makes no sense to try to extend his innings later in August if you lose games in July.  The team needs to try to win now.  Starting him against the Braves gives us the best chance to win that series because we have a clear chance to win a game that he starts then we'd only have to win one other to win the series.  Without him, we have three very steep uphill battles.

I'm convinced that you're the most psychotic person ever to post at WNFF.

You spend the better part of like 3 years talking about how awful the Nationals are, acting like an LOD'er, etc., and now you want the Nationals to use their players as if they're going after a playoff run this year.

My point was that his inning limit is fixed (whatever it is), why try to save them for later in August or September?  I maintain that the innings matter more now or they certainly don't matter less now than they will in August/September.

If we're out of contention in Aug/Sept, they certainly won't matter and for us to even have a chance to be in contention in Aug/Sept, we have to win NOW.

That means Jordan should be pitching in this Braves series.

...and why aren't we going after a playoff spot now...right up until we're eliminated from contention.

...I also hate the Braves...

lol.  game.

Just kidding, PC.  Way to be passionate about your team!

I honestly think it doesn't matter when JZ's innings come - they're not going to make the playoffs regardless.

Agreed with PC. JZim has to start game 1 in Atlanta.

Do you really want Livo starting that game?
