I saw Carter many times when he was with the Mets. No finer catcher in that era; all-around great ballplayer; with Keith Hernandez, Carter turned the Mets into contenders. Sad news, though we expected it.

wow, how did you get to meet him?

Meet Gary Carter at the golf course in Cooperstown.  He was playing in the HOF golf tourmanment.  He stopped and signed autographs and talked to us fans for a few minutes.  I have a nice 5x7 photo and bat signed by him.  Such a sad loss for us long time Expos fans.

Sad news. I wonder if they'll put a patch  for him on the uniforms this season.

I would love to see them do that.  I would expect the Mets to do that as well.

Gary Carter was the reason I started watching baseball as a kid. I really hope the Nats wear a patch to remember him this season. RIP Gary.
