Third time is the charm for his first hit?

Quote
Corey Brown, OF (AAA): Brown will be 27 in November, so he’s not a true prospect, but his lefty bat has power (23 HRs), and he could approach double-digit steals in a utility role. Just don’t expect much in the way of average, given his 27% whiff rate. Might be a fourth outfielder from Day 1 next season, even if it’s not in Washington.

Is Brown the new Tyler Moore in that Davey really doesn't like this guy?

Whatever happened to Corey Brown?

I see his prospect thread is locked, way down on about the 5th page. He has played in 9 games this year. Can't find a mention that he is hurt. (I'm mentally scavenging for hitters in the Nats organization...)

4 for 5 last night, 2 HRs.  Has 9 already despite missing good chunk of the season.  Not that the Nats need any more offense.

Brown > Bernie

Eh last year Bernie was hitting. Does anyone think Brown can produce at the big league level? Certainly didn't show it when he was up here.

I don't think anyone can really produce with limited AB's... which is why Brown/Bernadina/Moore/Kobernus etc. will likely put up bad numbers in limited playing time.

Having said that, seems the Nats/rest of baseball view Brown as a AAAA player. Wouldn't mind letting him go to Houston to see what he can do, maybe in a package deal for Wesley Wright.

Brown with the GW 3-Run HR in the 8th inning tonight for Syracuse, his 10th of the season in 118 ABs.

Brown > Bernie/T-Mo

He will probably play slightly below Bernie style defense, but from what we've seen and what scouting reports say, he has always been a bit above average yet not elite in CF.  He obviously has AAA power numbers, what that translates to in the bigs is closer to "some pop".  Bring him up by the ASB if Bernie isn't hitting his weight.  Hell, he probably has AS MUCH pop as Tracy does now.  DFA Tracy for this guy.  That alleviates having to keep using Lombo or possibly Kobernus in the OF.

somehow I thought that we were committed for more than a year to Tracy, but Cot's has him at just 1 year, $1MM.  Brown may be a realistic replacement, especially if T Mo is still on the roster as the 1st base backup / righty corner OF.  Lombo or Rendon can replace Zim if he gets hurt in a game.  Here, designating Tracy might make sense.  Pass him through waivers and offer him a place at Syracuse.  He may take the assignment with some sort of deal where he can get his release if a team comes looking.

Didn't know all that about Brown.   I don't know how that makes me feel about him on the Nats however.

I have a strong opinion on that, but it's sure to be an unpopular one, so for the sake of saving a discussion, I'll just ignore the subject.

On a side note, Corey and I have the same birthday.

Now back to that grinnin' bastard, Tony.
