Everytime Robbie Ray or AJ Cole have a good game, it makes me want Dylan Bundy even more.

Definitely something to be said for getting a nice core of pitchers together for a wave two of prospects.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 4 BB is because he was working on a new pitch. This kid has been better than Cole so far. Impressive!

Low 90's I think.

But he's left handed, so that's plenty.

This past draft could turn out to be a franchise maker.

You obviously don't read the Clubhouse much. This team is never going to be any good, ever. :)

I love the Ray and Cole are pitching. Hopefully it will make up for Detwiler being a clear bust.

holy freak. he's only 19 playing in A ball in his first full season.

1 run given up in 30 innings. 30 Ks to 8 BBs in 30 innings

He could be a 19 year old in high A before this season is done.

As good as AJ Cole has been, Ray may have passed him on some lists given his performance so far.

Someone else mentioned this at some point prior, but I'm really impressed with the way the Nats have handled these two young guys.  It's very early in their careers yet, but I had pretty strong doubts about the ability of this FO to either pick the right HS pitchers or develop them the right way (or both).  I'm already well on my way to having that opinion changed.  I hope these guys can keep it up as they progress through the minors.

Oh, sorry, I suck at Twitter. I thought Callis posted that. I was like "Oh, weird, same stats SF posted on WNFF"

Haha.

Sickels mentioned Ray today:

Quote
**A sleeper lefty to watch is Robbie Ray in the Washington Nationals system, drafted in the 12th round last year from high school in Brentwood, Tennessee. His draft slot was deceptive; he fell due to signability, but agreed to skip college at Arkansas for $799,000. Activated from extended spring training in early May, he's been excellent so far for Low-A Hagerstown, with a 1.07 ERA through seven starts and a 33/11 K/BB in 35 innings with just 17 hits allowed. Ray isn't a big guy at 6-2, 170, but his fastball hits 90 and he has a strong changeup and average breaking ball. He's only 19 but his career is off to a fine start.

Does he really only top out at 90?  That would have him sitting in the high 80's most of the time.

Lee had pretty good "stuff" and kind of mediocre results and control in the minors, so I don't think so :P
