Ray was pretty good, even though his numbers didn't really show it.

Fastball got plenty of swings and misses, but never could put away many of the hitters. If he had an off speed pitch like a change up, I think he could really take off... and if he does have a change up (Lynchburg doesn't have a stadium gun), there's not enough difference in the speed to throw the hitters off it.

Carson Cistulli at FanGraphs has uploaded a partly-facetious video of Robbie Ray pitching.

If we don't get our pitchers healthy up top then Ray will be up here in Septmember.

I'd imagine Ray will get 7-8 more starts and if he keeps it up, may see AA in late August.

He's not Cliff Lee. Very inefficient and he doesn't have any one put away pitch.

LHP Robbie Ray: The 10th-best prospect in the Nationals' farm system, Ray's fastball is up to 96 mph and he is leading the Carolina League in strikeouts while pitching for Potomac. According to Harris, Ray has power to his curveball and is developing a changeup.

"He has really done well. He has a little swagger going, and that is important," Harris said. "Success breeds confidence and confidence breeds success."

  96mph.

He throws that hard? really? That's an interesting development if true. He barely cracked 90 out of HS a few years ago.

He doesn't throw 96 tops our around 92. just go back through the thread and read the article about him sacrificing velocity for control... He's getting more strikeouts not blowing it by guys but keeping it in the strike zone.

As for my personal observations, he still needs a put away pitch against higher level right handed batters.
