my boy taylor jordan - who is second in the nats organization in ERA - looks good again tonight.  probably has another inning or two left.

5 IP, 5 H, 3 R (0 ER, no shock suns defense screws their pitcher again), 0 BB, 5 K

:az:

i think he's a #4 ceiling guy, but he's exceeded my expectations ever since they drafted him.

fastball low 92, tops out @ 94
good sinker
average change
plus slider

doesn't walk a lot of batters ... won't strikeout many, but he's shown in his brief career that he can punch out 5-6 batters in a given game ... doesn't give up a lot of homers ... he'll be in potomac before the year's over.

He sounds like Rizzo's dream pitcher.

Makes the Sally League All Star game.

His Pre-ASB stats:
7-3, 2.86 ERA, 69.1 IP (14 G/ 13 GS), 1.25 WHIP, 1 HR, 40 K, 17 BB.

Curious stat - 22 ER, but 31 R.  FIP is 3.14, probably due in part to that HR rate.

Final numbers

18 G, 17 GS, 9-4, 94.1 IP, 2.48 ERA / 2.92 FIP, 1.20 WHIP, 63 K, 23 BB, 1 HR allowed. .291 BABIP, LOB% 68.9%.

Shut down after his 7/9 start and placed on the DL. I can't find a report of the injury. Anyone know why?

Taylor Jordan had Tommy John surgery today at Washington Hospital Center in DC.

The operation was performed by the surgeon who assisted with Strasburg's surgery last year and went very well.

Seems a little low rent not to go to Yocum, Andrews or Kremchek.

Curious as to why they waited until now, 2 months after his last appearance.

Rocket - cool to have you on board. thanks for answering that.

He may have wanted to have it done locally for some reason.

He may have wanted to have it done locally for some reason.

The Nats sent him to the doctor in DC in July, an MRI was done and showed no damage. So they waited 6 weeks to see if it healed, and in a followup with the doc last Friday it was determined he needed the surgery.

Jordan would have preferred the operation was done 2 months ago. Very frustrating for him to say the least.

Taylor Jordan had TJ surgery on September 7 and now just 9 months later he's going to be starting a Minor League game. Amazing.

He's listed as the Opening Day starter for the Auburn Doubledays tonight.
