He's done for the night, 4.1 innings, runners on 1st and 2nd, 1 out...after he hit a batter.  :?

it's good for him to experience this.  he's had a crazy week ... futures game, AA all star game, getting bumped up.

Yeah, the dude really needs to be challenged. Kinda like Bryce Harper did.

Glad I didn't make the trip to Syracuse for that game.

I definitely don't want to see Peacock in the majors this year.  He's nowhere near ready.

Can you elaborate?  His numbers for tonight look fine so far, but I know you're probably actually watching it.

Actually, I'm no longer watching it.  The feed vanished, for some reason but his arsenal doesn't appear to be major league ready.  We need to see him pitch more in AAA.

He's out of the game.

5IP, 4H, 2R, 1ER, 1BB, 4SO, 0HR.

His AAA ERA is down to 7.71.  :?

That's a good line IMO. He had a very crappy game his first appearance. If he had one similar to this one, his ERA would be pretty low!

I saw Peacock pitch tonight. They really smoked the ball against him in the first inning, but then he settled down for the most part.

He's where he needs to be. He will never make it as a starting pitcher until he develops a change up.

A change up would be ideal but there are lots of SP in MLb who use their hook, slides, cutter, sinker, etc. as a change of pace. But what do I know, I've never seen the kid pitch. Can't wait though.

He took a no hitter in to the eight inning tonight

7 IP, 1 H, 4 BB, 7 SO 109 Pitches (62 strikes)

Good game for him. Definitely had some control issues but worked through them.

All those guys have three or more pitches. Right now Peacock has two. He's working on a change and a two seam fastball.

peacock lost his no-hitter in the 4th today.  issued 5 walks so far (one hit), to go along with 4 strikeouts after 4 innings.  2 earned runs.  91 pitches.

I'm surprised he's having so much trouble with walking hitters in AAA. The times I saw him in AA, his K's weren't coming from balls outside the zone that hitters were swinging at, he was pounding the zone. That doesn't seem to be the case so far since his promotion.

4 walks, 1 hit, and 4 k's sounds like an HRod type performance.

Could he be working on a certain pitch, say a changeup?

You never know, it's a possibility. Im sure his coaches and the organization let him know what he's got to work on.

But, if they were making him throw the pitch more and trying to establish it specifically, I would imagine they would've done it at AA. Promoting him to a higher level, then telling him we're going to make you use this pitch to improve would be a very tough thing for him.

It could just be a combination of things. He's just not as sharp. He's pressing in his first couple starts. The opponents are better hitters, and are laying off some things out of the zone.

It's a good learning experience for him, whatever it is. Hopefully he closes the season strong, and we stress the change up in instructional league.

Most likely. Which is fine. We throw Maya out all the time despite the fact that he sucks in AAA ball. Peacock can work on that pitch the whole time.

A lot of good relievers will start in the minors simply so they can work on secondary pitchers.

Peacock is the Eastern League pitcher of the year!
