At the very least, if he doesn't have a future as a starter, we should call him up as a bench guy. He'd be better than some of the guys here.

He's hitting well. Hard tyo displace Morse at 1B, even if you are Adam LaRoche. Harder still if you are The Kid. Maybe OF? Can he run?

you ever see him play at Potomac, he's a big tall lumbering guy, not much speed.

Ah. Hmmm. Morse, LaRoche. Marrero. Only one 1B position.

No. I see something more like the cemetery scene in "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly."

Which one will be Lee Van Cleef?

LaRoche.  Because of his arm injury, he has to draw first.  That, and he seemed to not mind putting us through torture at the start of the year.

Nobody's a bigger fan of Morse than I am, but I'd do that for a #2 starter, if Marrero could step in as an average all-around 1st baseman.

Lol ... we will see. We do have a log jam at first base though.

The thing is, Marrero's upside with the bat isn't much better than what LaRoche can produce, and LaRoche is a better fielder. I see LaRoche stepping in.

Oh sure, for 2012 when LaRoche is still under contract.

Marrero 2/3 with a double and HR so far tonight.

25 doubles, 13 HRs and a .307 BA. Not bad

Morse is home-town DC, meaning he was discovered / recovered from the scrap heap in Washington. They got him for Langerhans???

Marrero is a kid from the Nats farm system.

Trade LaRoche.

For what? What is a team going to give up for an injured LaRoche?

We all agree that ideally, LaRoche would be gone but I can't see a team giving up anything for a mediocre 1B coming off a major labrum injury. Especially when his salary is $8 million.

The real question is, can we trade Laroche simply for cash, as in someone else taking on his salary? My gut says that's the most likely outcome this offseason/next spring.

Teams will take LaRoche. He will return from his injury.

They just won't give up much. A healthy LaRoche wouldn't fetch much, one coming off a year off gets even less.

I suppose it's possible. There isn't going to be much of a market, though. Isn't Lee going to be a free agent again?

Maybe we can convince the loser of the Prince Fielder sweepstakes to take LaRoche. It's all about selling him when he's healthy.

Maybe LaRoche is meant to be a DH? Maybe the White Sox need a 1B?

He should be squarely back among our top prospects after this impressive season in AAA. He's batting .310! High OBP and good slugging

I have seen enough.

Call him up in September. Play Morse in LF for the rest of the season. Give Marrero the starting job at first base. Let's see what he's got.

Half LaRoche's value is his defensive ability at first base. He's not going anywhere to DH.

I'm just stretching to find some trade value.
