with a walk 8)

i just beat the pirates in the MLB Today feature (amazing) on MLB2K11 ... 8-0.  Lannan pitched a complete game shutout (9 IP, 6 H, 0 BB, 5 K) ... everyone in the line-up had at least one hit.

Espinosa 2B, Desmond SS, Werth RF, LaRoche 1B, Morse LF, Ramos C, Hairston CF, Bixler 3B, Lannan P

I like it  No Ankiel against a lefty that owns him. Desmond batting two, not thrilled by I like the lineup in general.

if desmond can get going, i'd love a Espi/Desmond/Zimmerman/LaRoche/Werth/Morse/Ramos/Ankiel line-up

I don't care who's in the lineup, I just want this win.  Falling back under .500 on a late make-up getaway game against the Pirates would be awful.

Have to fall back under .500 and have an eight game losing streak at some point.

And people say I'm pessimistic.

from ladson:

Quote
In a battle of lefties, the Nationals will send John Lannan to the mound while the Pirates go with Paul Maholm in the finale. Werth is 6-for-19 in his career against Maholm with a homer, two doubles and five RBIs.

The Nationals aren't a favorite opponent of Maholm, who owns an 0-4 mark and 6.26 ERA against the Nationals for his career. The Nationals are 6-1 in games started by Maholm, including a 5-0 mark against him at PNC Park.

Lannan doesn't like the Pirates either.
Paul Maholm vs. Nats 0-4, 6.26 ERA, 1.656 WHIP, 2.31 K/BB
Lannan vs. Pirates 1-3, 4.67 ERA, 1.529 WHIP, 2.22 K/BB

Chief nailed the situation.    Gotta win this one.

he's made adjustments at the plate which is evident by his strong spring training and AAA numbers this year.  but before that he had never been anything to write home about.  his glove is pretty weak, but can play multiple positions.

How much improvement can the defense really show when they held onto the worst fielder of the bunch?

:P
