Full season loan.
Makes tons of sense.  He gets PT he's not getting with his current club, and can come back second half of next Euro season.

With all the national team players now on DCU's roster, I'm glad the WC qualifiers won't be gearing up this year. Still, there will be friendlies and a few CONCACAF games, and then Boskovic will certainly be called up to play for Montenegro in the Euro qualifiers.

Part of the difficulty with a relegation system in baseball is that in the US most minor league teams are affiliated and rostered by a major league club.  Not for the independent leagues, but they are outside the MLB structure.  The Nats control Syracuse, Harrisburg, Potomac, . . .  Potomac does not keep the players that won the Carolina league and go up to the Eastern League.  Harrisburg gets them.

It would be especially tough to do for AAA promotion to MLB.  The Yankees would not lose the players at S-WB if they were promoted after winnning the IL.  This would certainly impact whether a team promoted quality players to the next level. There would have been a big negative for the NYY leaving montero at S-WB.  S-WB could not afford the talent the NYY left there if they had to buy them, and they don't have the right to sell them to get money to field a team on their own.

not expecting it to happen, but it might work if it was analogous to soccer where you could loan players to teams, etc. however, we would probably want our players to get top notch instruction in our farm system

someone explain to me how Transfers differ from Trades/Free Agency?

i think it is more like a trade than a signing. the player is still under contract and you essentially buy the player and the contract from a team for money. like a trade for cash.

It's all Branch Rickey's fault.  The farm system was so great at allowing St. Louis to develop and keep talent for cheap, rather than buying players from independent, nonmajor leagues during the late 20s / early 30s, that it became the form here.

It's hard to find out much about how Charlie Davis has been performing recently, since he's only been playing with the reserve team at Sochaux.  Hopefully a French first division team's reserves are about MLS calibre (those teams usually have a lot of depth, so it's not like the riffraff on the bench here in the US leagues).

From what I've heard/read the problem he's had is getting his speed back.  Apparently Sochaux sought out the loan deal to get him playing time to regain fitness and speed.

What an amazing comeback by Newcastle. Down 4-0 to Arsenal and came back to tie it up.

DID ANYBODY JUST WATCH THIS ARSENAL/NEWCASTLE GAME? freaking amazing. I tuned in at 68 minutes and saw Newcastle erase a 4-0 deficit. The 4th goal was scored in the 88th on an insane 30 yard volley. Gotta be the no. 1 play on SC

Highest scoring single day in Premier League history.  All kinds of wonky fog breather goodness to be found in several matches.

When I saw a list of scores from last night I suspected it could have been a record. Wonder how much it surpassed second place

Really weird that Suarez didn't start in such a huge game.

The funny thing is, if it weren't for that goal, how many of the replays of that game would have shown Giggs's pass to Nani as the highlight?

Wow, Clint Dempsey.  Just wow.  You absolutely must do better than that.

Terrible penalty. Lacked pace and accuracy. Props to Cech, though, for freaking him up.

I think Dempsey botched a few PKs back n the New England days and did not take them in the MLS Cup shootouts or was not in the top 5 shooters for them.

edit: frank dellapa tweets

frankdellapa: Still say PKs not Deuce's strong suit. He was 0 for 2 with Revs, as far as I remember, and never in top 3 among potential PK takers.
