Got home from baseball just in time yesterday to catch the second half of DC United handing the Portland Timbers their first home loss last night, 3-2, despite Portland getting three tries on a penalty kick.

That was a good game. I really like Brettschneider. He should get more playing time.

Donovan, Dempsey, Altidore, and Agudelo are all starting tonight against Canada in the Gold Cup. I'm expecting a 4-0 win.

There will be at least one Gold Cup game at RFK.

[edit: there are two quarterfinals on the same day.
Quarterfinals
Saturday, June 18 – New Meadowlands Stadium (East Rutherford, NJ)
Group A runner-up vs. Group B runner-up,
Group A winner vs. Group B/C third-place,
x-matches scheduled for 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. local (5 p.m. and 8 p.m. EDT)
Sunday, June 19 – Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium (Washington DC)
Group B winner vs. Group C runner-up, TBD (y)
Group C winner vs. Group A/B third place, TBD (y)
y-matches scheduled for 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. local (3 p.m. and 6 p.m. EDT)

The USA is almost certain to win group C, so they should be in the second game on 19 June at RFK.

Canada has actually maintained pretty good possession and has had several decent scoring chances.  But Dempsey scored the second I wrote that

Great goal.

Altidore has been awesome in this one.

I really don't like Joey Barton. I can't believe he didn't get a red card.

Pretty good games today.

Ok, so I watched a bit of the Arsenal match today.  Is it too early to buy a scarf?

Oh man, I'm so glad City got Aguero. He should easily score 20 goals this season.

I like Nani when he's not selfish. He looked good in their preseason games and in the opener.

Fullham didn't look too good today. They need to get some younger players.

Wow, Man City just whooped Tottenham 5-1. Dzeko had four of the goals.

Let's not even go into the other North London/Manchester match.  Fuuuuuuuuuck.

Yeah, that was ugly. They were missing a lot of players, though. They need to get another CB (maybe Cahill) and hope that Vermaelen can last more than 5 or 6 games this season.

Nasri looked good today.

Lots of rumors concerning dempsey in the past week. One related to Arsenal. Stayed with Fulham though. I'm OK with that. They picked up some players and havent been getting beaten badly, so maybe they can be a bit more competitive going forward. I would have started rooting for Arsenal just cuz of Dempsey (and I like their jerseys), but might not have really liked it since its kinda like rooting for the yankees or sox, even though they arent doing so hot right now.

I read somewhere recently that fox is going to be airing a handful of premier league games on sundays to complement their football games. Chelsea v man u on superbowl sunday is one of them.
