Hamonds, you have to be encouraged by Hood's start in Potomac.

The power still isn't there but the approach at the plate has gotten much better which is everything.

8/24 with 2 Doubles, 1 Triple, 2 RBIs, 7 BBs, 6 Ks, 0 SBs, 0 CS.

i'm listening now.  so proud.

he said the biggest thing he wanted to do is cut down his strikeouts and draw more walks ... and he's doing that, plus hitting the ball.  he has raw power that will eventually come and i still think he'll be able to steal bases from time-to-time.  but yeah, so far, i'm :az: with his 2011 season.

I asked BA's Jim Callis about Selik:

No reports from 2011 yet, but touched 96 at Kansas last spring. @sportsfan882: #Nationals RHP Cameron Selik 5 IP 1 H 0 ER 1 BB 11 K today.

I wonder how he fell to us in the 22nd round. Big pitcher body, strong arm. Had TJ surgery in '07 but appears to be all the way back. Has a low-mid 90s heater, nasty breaking slider and an okay changeup.

You need more than velocity to be a pitcher in the major leagues.

It appears as if he's a converted reliever, and relievers aren't as valued.

Also, he's kind of old for the Sally League, and it's early yet.  Not that I don't like the potential there, but I wouldn't get too excited yet.

Marrero's currently on the front page of milb.com. E. Perez finished 3/4 today seems like he's coming out of his early season slump hopefully he can keep it up.

We are in deep need of CF help, so if he keeps up ... he might be a September call-up.

Brown will be up very quickly if he plays well. Doubt they wait until September, unless he has a poor year.
