Any news on Tyler Moore? He's one of the guys I'm most interested in seeing. It might be a pipe dream, but if this kid can bring what he had last season again this year, and some of that to the pros, we have a gem on our hands.

I hope he sticks with the Jose Bautista school of hitting that he adopted the second half of last year.

Byron Kerr has it as a quad injury:

Quote from: Byron Kerr
Nationals pitcher Sammy Solis has been held out for a few days with a minor injury.
"I tweaked my quad while running so I have been taking it easy and getting it back to 100 percent," Solis said.

Well, I'll go with Kerr's diagnosis... mainly because he talked to Solis, plus, it sounds the most optimistic.

I'm optimistic. his injury quickly moved from his groin to his quad. At this rate, his injury will reach his toes in a week.

Maybe it will just exit his butt.

Byron Kerr FTMFW.  He has been on point this spring with minor league updates, I would love to see him continue this into the regular season.  Here is some of his latest stuff, from Nats hitting instructor Rick Schu:

Rick Hague
Quote
"Shortstop Rick Hague out of Rice is progressing well," Schu said. "He hit .300 with Class A Hagerstown. He has a pretty good swing path. He is getting leverage from his lower half and that is resulting in a bunch of home runs. Hague is a winner. He is a team leader, not vocal, but goes about his business like a pro."

Tyler Moore
Quote
"Tyler continues to show strength in his wrists and hands like (Braves second baseman) Dan Uggla," Schu said. "I think he is stronger than Uggla in that regard at this point in his career. He has power to all fields. The ball makes a different sound coming off his bat. It is exciting to see him continue to hit well."

Derek Norris
Quote
"Derek Norris is swinging the bat well," Schu said. "He took to the fall league and shortened up his swing. He is keeping his front shoulder down and that allows him a more compact, powerful swing. He worked on this at instructs not to fly off his shoulder any more."

Stephen Lombardozzi
Quote
"Stephen keeps on rolling," Schu said. "I have watched him with the Nationals for two years and I have never seen him give up on an at bat. He keeps coming at you. I told his Dad (former major leaguer Steve Lombardozzi) that in my 30 years in baseball, Stephen is the most professional player I have ever been around."

Randolph Oduber
Quote
"Randolph is hitting home runs," Schu said. "He is doing really well. I saw him hit an inside the park grand slam. He hit a line drive that the right fielder dove for and missed and Oduber just kept on going around the bases. I had never seen an inside the park grand slam before. He is stealing bases. He is looking good."

love the report on lombardozzi.  if desmond/espinosa can stick and stay at SS/2B and really deliver ... i would love if lombardozzi and kobernus could emerge as quality back-ups.

I'm really excited for Hague this year. Could vault into our Top 10 list.

Tyler Moore gets to show if last year was a fluke or legit. Can he hit AA pitching?

Oduber is an interesting guy. Was awesome in GCL, struggled in brief stint with Hagerstown. Has mounds of 5-tool potential.

I expect big years from Lombo and Norris.

No Wood jokes?  Should be at least as many as for CMW.

I'll start - I knew Wood wouldn't last long.

Harrisburg Roster announced today, looks like the starting fielders will probably be as follows barring any changes or additions:

C:  Derek Norris
1B:  Tyler Moore
2B:  Stephen Lombardozzi
SS:  Matt Antonelli?
3B:  Tim Pahuta
OF:  Jesus Valdez, Bill Rhinehart, Archie Gilbert/Johnathan Tucker

Rotation will probably be Meyers, Tatusko, Erik Davis, Brad Pea****, and maybe Atilano/Mandel/Arnesen

That team could be better than our major league team, except for the OF.

I think only Harrisburg's roster has been updated and/or released so far.  The other teams will probably update everything in the next few days, for instance Hagerstown won't be keeping Hood/Ramirez/Harper/Oduber/Taylor/Higley/Perez for there outfield, there will have to be some moves to Potomac.

Norris is the youngest player our AA roster by six months.

Lombardozzi is the second youngest.

The rest are all at least a year older than Norris.

On the cup is half-empty outlook; The roster is not good because there are 2 young players and 23 old players.
