I think Christina Kahrl made the point that the Gorzelanny trade is an indication of how far the system has come.  Yes, he has his problems, but he had a decent season and a case can be made that his lack of progress at Pittsburgh was due to abuse.  As she pointed out, we had enough in the system below the crown jewel level in order to trade minor leaguers for major league help.  We really could not do that before this year.  most of our deals went the other way (think the various Stanton deals, as well as the Livo and the Rauch deals under JimBo).

Personally, I'm a bit surprised that Mayo did not have Norris on his list.  There are quite a few catchers, and I respect Mayo's work, but this seems to be an outlier.
