drove around gainesville today, road intersections are already starting to get flooded around construction zones.  It will be interesting to see what 10 more hours of rain brings us.

Sounds like mom & co decided late yesterday to go full steam overnight to a relatively sheltered stream about 50 miles up the Hudson.  They have two anchors down and are preparing to weather it out.  I feel a lot better about this as there is really no chance of significant surge that far inland, though the wind might get a bit exciting.  That said, the most recent reports are starting to indicate that the eye is becoming very disorganised, so it might just turn into  a big hot wet mess that doesn't do a whole lot of damage.  I think we are certainly going to get a deluge here around DC in any event, but it would be nice if we didn't have to worry about thousands of downed trees and all of the attendant drama.

Just started dumping the rain down here. Not too windy, just torrential rain.

It's blowing steadily down here, and rain to go with of course.

It seems to be completely stalled out around Norfolk and falling apart. It's good news for the rest of the country and pretty crappy for those people.

All the news reports will look like this, except "New York" instead of "Texas":

It seems to be done now. Dumped it down for about 10 minutes or so and then drizzled for awhile. Over for now.

lots of rain out here past manassas, little wind.

Just looked at the latest NHC advisory - heading for NY between JFK and Manhattan, they are saying up to 20" total rainfall from the storm, and wind speeds significantly higher at higher altitudes, a warning for those in high-rises.

It's just drizzling here but I hear an unexplained SLAM that might have been a neighbor's trash can.

Another trough is organizing off the coast of Africa, Henry Margusity on Accuweather thinks it will be a another east coast hurricane arriving labor day weekend.  He's a bit of an alarmist though.

Some crapheads car horn is stuck due to a short in the wiring.  Just called the cops to get it ironed out.  Hopefully a hickory shampoo is in his future.  Can't wait to get out of this craphole.

winds/rain have steadily picked up since about 7:30 or so, pretty strong right now.
