Too bad about Miller, but keeping Orel is a no-brainer, the main is a born color commentator.

Wanna talk writing on the wall?

"Orel, what are you doing in this booth? We never needed 3 in a booth before?"

And hopefully they bump up Shulman.

In a sort of related vein, the guy that runs the "Fire Jim Bowden" blog is calling it quits.

Quote
After a few months of silence, I think I'm probably done as a Nationals blogger.

Since about April, my blogging time has been eaten up by all sorts of other things, mainly related to moving from the DC area to Portland, Maine. Then I was working day and night for the last month or so on the election. But now that I have a little more time, I'm still just not feeling the vibe.

I always said I would keep doing this only as long as it was fun, and I haven't been able to think of anything that would be fun to write about for a while.

I will still root for the Nationals--I sure as shootin' will never root for the Red Sox. I'll actually have an easier time seeing games now that I don't have to deal with the stupid MLB.tv blackouts.

For the record, I think the Nationals are in better shape organizationally than at anytime since they came to DC. There's the influx of premium talent from the #1 picks. Since Aaron Crow, the Lerners have basically spent like normal MLB owners. Mike Rizzo's been competent, and getting Stan Kasten out of the way I think helps, because now you FINALLY have a clear top-down structure with a baseball person reporting to the owners.

Other than Jim Bowden, the team and MASN have always been incredibly gracious to me. I really appreciate all they've done with the blogger days and the responsiveness to inquiries.

Anyway, thanks for the eyeballs and the comments and the links. It's been fun. If I feel the bug again, maybe I'll come back. But for now, the blog is closed. See ya.

Hershiser sucks. ESPN should get rid of him too.

They didn't fire anyone.  Both contracts expired but Miller may do radio.

Well he still has his full time gig as Giants PBP guy... but if he ever leaves there... he needs to come back east.

The Nats pick their own commentators; that sure would piss him off I bet.

I'm quoting what Morgan must have been thinking at the beginning of last season.

I think Miller leaving the Giants is as likely as Ernie Harwell leaving the Tigers.  Sure, both did a stint in Baltimore, but basically Miller is not going to give up his seat up in SF until he is close to passing away.  What a year for Miller - HOF, SF World Series, and then losing your gig at ESPN? :wtf:

Tragic. I've always loved Steve over on FJB even though we didn't always agree and I think the Natosphere will be missing a valuable voice of team criticism.

Always struck me as a message board like this is a good place for an irregular post to kick off discussion or for a comment short of a post.  Maybe you can suggest to him to post here on occasion?

I have tried to get him to come check this place out, but he says message boards just aren't for him. He loves things that give him a quick shot of the news and being as busy as he is, he doesn't have the time to devote to an online message board persona.

I didn't realize I was supposed to be creating an online persona.  I thought I was just posting as me.

You get more Aura if you post as a persona.  Mystique as well. What a pair.
