Perhaps if the Yankees and Phillies cruise through the playoffs to the WS there might finally be some interest in a real salary cap?

Explain exactly how a salary cap achieves anything other than FISCAL parity.

Are you kidding?  Bud Selig would be ecstatic if the Phillies and Yankees cruise through the playoffs to the WS.  In terms of effective market size (i.e. not including the Rangers because they aren't as into baseball as Philly right now) it would be the best possible matchup in terms of ratings of all the playoff teams.

Lincecum looks like a small, ugly woman.

I think its a fair tradeoff for being an unstoppable force on the mound.

It would suck if the Braves-Giants game ends up being decided on a blown call at second base.

Yeah... I found it weird that the announcers didn't even mention how clear it was that Posey was out by a good foot or two.

Hinske is a fat load who gets lucky.

Even if the Giants run is BS, Lincecum won the pitching matchup and deserves a win.

Funny, the women I know all think he's hot, like Ian Astbury circa 1986.  I guess that's what I get for hanging around with former glam and goth chicks.

Whatev, he's going to empty Bobby Cox's colostomy bag over his head.

Lincecum looks like a small, ugly woman.

Lincecum vs. Halladay would be must see television in Games 1 and 4 or 5 of the NLCS.

Man, a perfect game and a two hitter in consecutive days. Now Lincecum is going for another two hitter with an inning left. This is the most unevenly matched playoffs I can recall. And it's not unexpected. We had a handful a super strong teams against teams with a ridiculous amount of holes. The Rays, Twins and Braves were all weak. Heck, the Rays have been involved in how many no hitters this year, and their pitching just isn't post season polished. Unfortunately it's all going to come down to the Yankees and the Phillies. Giants just don't have the offense to beat the Phillies.

But these games are really starting to show just how poorly matched these teams are.

Hopefully we can't count out the Reds just yet. No matter how many times they say it, Hamels isn't an ace.

Amazing.

I'd almost say more dominating than Halladay.

Something ain't right with Lincecum.

Worst post in WNFF history. I have beaten Eagleskins, richnats, Sportsfan, spidernat, mikehughes, and many other illustrious names. I'm not sure I should ever post again.

mostly kidding about spider

Also, can we trade Verducci for Debbi Taylor? She can write for SI.

How can you hate a pot head? He's probably the most laid back player in baseball.

Nah.  But it was extremely dominant.  One of the greatest pitching performances of the year for sure.

I wonder how many old timers saw this as a NY/Boston matchup?  I know that my grandma occasionally forgets that both teams moved.  But she would probably look for a streetcar to the Polo Grounds if she got a wild hair to venture back into the city for a game.

Wait, she remembers the Redskins moving then?

he kind of reminds of Dibble in how he throws, but I absolutely love the fact that he tucks the ball behind his right leg until the very last second, he gives hitters almost no chance to pick the ball up coming out of his hand.

We're setting up for a really interesting set of LCSs, Texas and NY - power vs. power, and Philly/SFO - pitching vs. pitching.  I'm looking forward to both series, though I still think it will be Texas and Philly in the WS.
