Bingo.

I'd still probably post in every gameday thread while home... except when football is on.

Desmond's lack of extra base power kind of surprises me.

That's why, in my mind, it's so important for his career to stay at SS... just don't see the projection in his bat to be a quality 2B.

If we switched Espinosa to SS and Desmond to 2B, both their bats would still be in the lineup and their production would be exactly the same... why does it matter?

No Steelers' football  :stir:   The rest of it is mere exhibition.

I've been so busy lately. I miss being able to post in here during the game. You guys/gals (except for a few exceptions) are so awesome to talk to.

Because, Desmond's offense is not adequate enough to be a second basemen.

You could do better at that position, his offense at SS is a bit of a plus.

Espinosa is a lot better defensively at SS than Desmond.

I understand that, but the way I see it you want your best fielders at each position.  If Espinosa would be a better fielding SS than Desmond, they should switch, regardless of whether that would mean the production levels were skewed.  If you think we can do better at 2B than Desmond, then we should trade him and acquire that better 2B.

Exactly my point.

This is one rule they should change to speed up the games. On an IBB they should allow 1 pitch then give him the base.

I'm saying if they switch, Desmond no longer becomes a quality regular.

At SS he is.

That's why, it's probably not a terrible idea to trade one of them for either a power bat, or a proven arm.

It allows for the possibility of a WP.

They shouldn't IMO.  An IBB is just a deliberate walk in a mechanical sense, right?  If someone manages to hit the ball during an IBB, it doesn't violate any rules, and if they strike out that's cool too.  I like that.

Then, um, trade him and forget about it.  Desmond could actually fetch some nice pieces in return, unlike most of the players we have to trade.  Failing that, it never hurts to have a good backup MI.
