How hard can the ground be in PITT?  They keep talking about how hard the ball bounces there.
It's actually really easy to do if you have a ground crew who doesn't know what they're doing.  That or that's what the Pirates asked for...

McCutchen is to Pittsburgh what Zimmerman(n) is to DC?

Exactly ... the one where the base runners do the conga coming around to score.    Ole Bugs Bunny !

The infield was redone before the 2009 season if I remember right and still rock hard.

As it turns out, Morton's ERA didn't drop very much at all, just to 9.83.

1st   R Zimmerman grounded out to shortstop, N Morgan scored.   1   0
4th   A Dunn homered to left.   2   0
4th   A Kennedy safe at first on error by first baseman G Jones, R Bernadina scored, M Morse to second.   3   0
4th   I Desmond reached on infield single to second, A Kennedy scored, W Ramos to third, J Marquis to second.   4   0
4th   R Zimmerman singled to center, W Ramos and J Marquis scored, I Desmond to third.

Nationals  6
Pirates     0

I tuned in right in the middle of the 4th inning rally.  This is what this team needs.

It's sad for the Pittsburgh fans that the Pirates' management will not try to field a good team.

Then that's on the grounds crew.

Maybe they have astro-dirt in the Pittsburgh infield?

Good thing Nieves isnt catching today.  The board would be blaming him for Marquis' pitches being up.

So, tell me Ray.   Do you think he's pitching too high?

It's sad for the Pittsburgh fans that the Pirates' management will not try to field a good team.

I don't know about that.  McCutcheon, Tabata, Walker, Alvarez have all come up in the last year (the last three in the last few months).  They traded to upgrade C.  Jones is adequate at 1B for now.  They've got Lincoln and McDonald now as young starters.  If Maholm or Duke could ever be consistent they would actually have something working there.  With that said, Huntington has done a bang up job of improving the entire system there and I wouldn't be surprised if they fielded a .500 finally in 2012.
