Braves 6
Nationals 1
Final

Tony Armas
8-11, 5.28 ERA

Kyle Davies
2-5, 7.69 ERA

Lineups:

Lineups posted when available

Game Preview:

Kyle Davies (2-5, 7.69 ERA), still searching for his first victory since returning from the 60-day disabled list, starts for Atlanta.

Davies has made three starts since being activated by the Braves on Sept. 1, going 0-2 with a 14.40 ERA. He allowed three runs and three hits in 2 2-3 innings against Philadelphia on Wednesday, the first game of a doubleheader the Phillies swept from Atlanta.

''I think I've gotten out of the way I'm supposed to pitch,'' Davies said. ''I've gotten away from what got me here, and that's being extremely aggressive.''

Davies hasn't won since April 30. He went on the disabled list on May 17 to have surgery on his right groin.

Seven of his 11 starts this season have come against Philadelphia or the New York Mets , so he'll likely be happy to be facing a new team.

Davies went 1-1 with a 4.82 ERA in three games against Washington, all last season.

--SI has the preview with Bergmann starting, so no scouting on him  --

I added some new icons to the site...  should show up in the address bar.  Red for the home theme, Blue for the road and standard themes.

Just thought I'd post it here to liven up the conversation a bit

Sorry guys, but I'll be watching the Steelers game all night. Enjoying the Nats game right now, though.

Tony, as a rule, pitchers should swing less. If you're a pitcher, it's ok to strike out with the bat on your shoulder!

The pitcher isn't going to be the catalyst for an offensive revival!  In that last at bat, the first pitch to Armas as a foot over his head then he swung at a pitch that was eye level.

That at-bat, in particular, why not force him to pitch himself out of trouble instead of helping him!!!
