Beasley just told byron kerr that moore will get starts in LF starting this week and has been working with coaches to learn the position.

this guy needs to be called up as soon as he can play a somewhat acceptable LF.

Frankly, I don't think it should matter. If the bat is there, that's what we need. It's not like Morse is going to be a world beater out in left

Thank you for making me realize I'm not crazy for thinking Tyler could play LF. DeRosa = A decent bench player. I'd take NAdy over him in left ANY DAY.

Per NationalsProspects.com and Baseball-reference.com

Tyler Moore .296/.361/.611, 5HR, 14 RBI .921 OPS in 14G
He's played 12 games at 1B with a 1.000 Fld%
He's played 4 games in OF with a 1.000 Fld%
That's 0 errors so far.

He's really progressed since his Potomac days.  OF is a position he's never played before, so yes. They do have plans for him!

I actually can't help but wonder if moving him to LF isn't a bit of a panic move.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe some folks here were saying he's gotten better at 1B in recent years/months, no?

Long-term, this franchise needs 1B.  LaRoche isn't signed after this year, and Morse has injury problems and doesn't have long until free agency.  Meanwhile, outfield could be crowded soon with Harper and Werth out there already and guys like Eury Perez and Destin Hood in the pipeline.

1B is definitely the position of greater need, so maybe they should just keep him there?

Or maybe Morse's injury is worse than they're saying. :?

Eh, this team needs a guy that can put the ball in the seats bad... and Moore can certainly do that.

The way they are handling him will be interesting to watch. If they think they have a shot to compete this year... I can see why sacrificing his development at 1B to help provide a quick fix in the OF makes sense... but if they're looking long term, Moore profiles best at 1B and it would be good for him to continue to get most of his reps there.

@CitizenMeyers: Tyler Moore has hit HR No. 6. A 2-run job way up the batter's eye

:whip: He hit it off of Mets prospect Matt Harvey. Now batting over .300

Would anyone actually be against playing Tyler Moore at the 1B position over LaRoche?

Personally I think LaRoche is fine at 1B as long as he keeps driving in the RBIs. Just seems like we have a crowded infield.

Team option on LaRoche that is a total no brainer right now

Moore just missed yet another homer.  back-to-back games where it fell an eyelash short of going over the fence.
