Nats have put up 40 runs in the four games Kennedy has lead off.

I like how you keep track of that

Everyone loves the speed guy @ top of lineup...but kennedy does all the little things right: takes a lot of pitches, works the count, goes the other way and has decent baseball speed.

Liking the ak/des/bernie/zim/dunn/morse look

Second negative Guzman remark in two nights... Phil Wood saying Guzman's Second Base play wasn't up to par in the post game... Guzzy must not have been well liked. Damn.

And, I know why they do it, but it sure would be nice for the commentators to call out the players while they're on the team, not well after they've left.

Phil Wood trashing Guzman's Second Base play in the post game... Guzzy must not have been well liked. Damn.

Eh, I think among the clubhouse he was...but I would not be surprised if there are some in the FO that were really ready to get rid of him.

Don't want to get Dibble'd.

I like ray in the booth, but ugh, Phil Wood on the post game is awful.

Hey, don't hate on Phil Wood doing the post-game. I was in bliss this home stand not having to listen to that blowhard go on and on about how he lived next door to a Cuban Senator in 1923 or the 1958 Orioles on the radio call in show while driving home from the Nats games. If we are lucky he takes three calls a night. The replacement guys, Craig and someone else, take ten+ calls and don't obviously condescend the callers. I figured no one was calling in this season and that was why Wood went on and on about the 1899 season, then the game that ended last week around midnight had seven or eight calls.

So keep Wood away, I'd rather turn off the TV after away games than be forced to listen to that idiot not take calls on a post-game call-in show while driving home from home games and talking about how he personally watched Civil War soldiers playing an early version of baseball.

Coladar, you are reffering to Craig Heist who is one of the best in the biz.  Good guy.

Yeah, Craig I know and have enjoyed for the past couple of years. But he has a partner during the call-in show who's name I can't recall for the life of me. Brian? Seem to think it starts with a B.

But Craig Heist is a consummate professional on the call-in show, doesn't go off on things that have nothing to do with the game or even the Nationals, handles callers well and just does an overall superb job. Phil Wood is too busy reminding everyone he was in the room when baseball was created, and was quite good friends with the entire 1927 Yankees team.

agree completely with your take on Wood. Unbelievable that he barely takes calls on a call in show, because he is too busy monologuing. And instead of talking about the game that just happens, he picks out points from it that allow him to refer to something that happened in a Senators game he saw in th fifties. All the while, he stammers and takes a minute to say something that should take five seconds. He shouldn't have a job. Just ruins the post game.

it took until August, but we're finally getting the Jason Marquis we paid for.
We paid for a mediocre pitcher and we got one. He was unlucky in April, now he is lucky in August. His K rate in August is actually worse than it was in April.

April: 3.24 K/9, 6.48 BB/9, 0.50 K/BB, .438 BABIP, 2.88 WHIP, 8.74 FIP, 6.61 xFIP
August: 3.12 K/9, 4.85 BB/9, 0.64 K/BB, .255 BABIP, 1.58 WHIP, 6.76, 6.10 xFIP

Why does chemist's avatar remind me of Chief? Did Chief ever use that same avatar at one point?

I created that avatar during the '08 3-9 start after Paul Lo Duca commented:

Quote
“Something has to help better. … You could bring a squirrel in here, and he can do better than the way we have been playing.”

Remember that Phillies sloshfest that started at about 11:30 p.m.?  I suppose that must have been back at RFK, and right towards the end of the season.

That was a great game.  They needed it to stay in the wildcard hunt, if I recall.  That was shortly after I moved to Baltimore, and I didn't have TV at the time, so I followed along with MLB Gameday and the game thread here.  Felt like I was at a party with everyone watching it live.  Nats ended up winning.  In extras, wasn't it?

Glad some of you newbies enjoyed my broken hand rage thread

If I recall correctly. "That's what they get for making us play this game."
