Why pinch hit a pitcher for a pitcher in the first place?
To save your bench for later in a position where you have 2 outs and no one on.

It's early. Probably didn't want to waste a position player.

We do have a full 25-man roster, don't we?

I don't get this.  A pinch hitter will very rarely stay in the game or get a 2nd at bat.  So, a run in the 5th inning is the same as a run in the 9th.

Exactly.  There were 2 outs with nobody on base, early in the game.  You don't waste a bench player in that situation.  With a runner on second, yeah, then you would.

Stop being so knee jerk.  So JZ has a bad start after coming off of TJ surgery and you call him awful?

Stammen is going to be solid out of the pen.

He's a thin skinned eagle.

Riggleman likes to have guys ready for the double switch late in games.

Maybe he thought Marquis would get a hit.

Can you please let him get the third out before complimenting him, Bob and Ray?

My point is what if the bench player gets a hit?  We get two runs that inning at least.  So that extra run in the 9th inning wouldn't be there anyway.  A run is a run is a run.  Makes no difference when it is scored.

Wait, what?  How do we get 2 runs?  Bases were empty with 2 outs already, right?

No.  Pudge GO 6-3, 1 out.  Harris lineout to 1B, 2 outs.  Marquis GO 4-3, 3 outs.
