Please no more bum pitchers next year. Guys like Batista wouldn't have a job on any other Major League team.

And replace him with shairon martis who has a +4 era and gave up 10 hits yesterday?

I'm so sick of scrub pitchers infecting this team. It's a plague that's been going on since the team moved to DC.

The fact that we have to actually use Batista in key situations now is pathetic. Our bullpen was actually decent earlier in the season when we could afford to use bums like Batista in mop up role only.

How bad was Marquis? I missed the start of the game, but 40 strikes on 70 pitches sounds sloppy.

Anybody been to Dodger Stadium?

Back in 1969...don't remember much about it, but the cover of the match programme featured an up-and-coming young pitcher named Don Sutton.

so important to remove Morse's bat so Riggs could get 2 innings of Clippard.

Dodgers radio guy Charley Steiner introduced Batista as "Miss Iowa's favorite pitcher".   He then went on to retell the story, then tied it into umpire Jim Joyce's own recent effort to make lemonaide from lemons.  He did commend the Nats organization and Batista for nimbly turning the apparent faux pas into a positive, and doing it very quickly.

That's fine but do it every time and you end up with a .118 average.

...so emblematic, though, of the feast-or-famine offence we've had recently.

Mystics trailing 54-50 after three - more turnovers and more second-chance shots and three-pointers allowed, but to give the Sun their due they're playing like the desperate team they are (three games out of a playoff berth with seven left) and Tina Charles (prohibitive favourite for Rookie of the Year) has been a beast with seven blocked shots.
