I fully expect Richmond to beat UVA Saturday.  Give me a spread of 14 or more and I'd take Villanova, Montana, Appalachian St. and William & Mary against anyone in FBS this season.  I'd bet the CAA conference is better than the Sun Belt, MAC and WAC at this point.

Richmond won't win unless Verica self destructs. Entirely possible, but I don't see London allowing it to happen.

You must be joking right. William and Mary is the Rice of FCS. They can't sustain the success because of their academic standards.

I'll just point out "this season" and move along.  This should be their 3rd consecutive FCS playoff appearance.

2009: 11-3 (beat UVA)
2008: 7-4 (lost by more to JMU than NC STate)

Richmond currently has more talent.  That won't last long, as London is a really good coach, but Richmond is as good as William & Mary was last year and they beat UVA 26-14.  If this game were happening at a time other than week 1 I may agree with you.

I'm not saying there aren't a handful of teams that could compete, but those aren't BCS conferences, they're the lowest FBSD1 conferences.  Except for the WAC which should be decent this year.  None of those teams would win the WAC, even if Boise wasn't there.

That's not sustained success. Rice went to 2 bowls in 3 years.

I'd put money on Montana in the WAC this year if Boise St. was out of the mix.

Fresno, Idaho and Nevada should all be pretty good this year.

At least the Big Ten network exists. Last time they played, it was on ESPNU.

I'm excited to see Nebraska on there next year.  It's a really sharp product.  And I'm sick of PPV games.

It's going to be great. I hope they change the name of the conference.

I don't see that happening.  I'm just curious how the divisions are gonna shake out.

I see them going with an EAST/WEST division split just don't know which teams in which divisions.

Nevada might be but they have absolutely no talent on defense.  I'd take Montana straight up against the other two.

The smoke recently would lead me to believe they'll split it up differently than that, but it should be interesting either way.

OSU, PSU, Northwestern, Indiana, Illinois, Purdue - EAST
Iowa, Michigan, MSU, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota - WEST

I think that's the least likely split.

 You can't have Michigan and OSU in the same division, you just schedule them each year. PSU and Iowa are near equals, you keep the IN teams and IL teams together, and WI and MN.

that looks decent but I see the big ten putting PSU/MSU and OSU/UM in the same division.

The talk was splitting by natural rivals.  That keeps OSU/Michigan separate, NU/Illinois, Minnesota/Wisconsin, Purdue/Indiana and who knows for the final pairings (maybe Iowa/Nebraska and MSU/PSU?).  I think you could flip Illinois and Purdue with  Iowa and Minnesota and be fine.
