Switch the batting order. Pudge down to 8.

Willingham at 6. Bernadina at 5.

Morgan
Guzman
Zimmreman
Dunn
Bernadina
Willingham
Desmond
Pudge

They should change his nickname from "Pudge" to "DOUBLE PLAY."

 Change something up.

Bernadina is the hottest hitter so far into the second half. Willingham can only walk right now. Pudge's DP's aren't helping, especially with a Dunn and Willingham infront of him.

why on earth would you swing on a 2-0 count with a guy who can't get the ball over the plate?

Because he doesn't like to walk, I guess.

Nah, Hammer 5 and Bernie 6 to keep the R/L/R/L/R series going 3-6.  Agree that Pudge has got to bat 8th until he gets hot again (if that happens).

Dunn's been fielding Desmond's throws really well tonight.

True. Its something we can't have (pudge batting 6th) with 3 guys who walk alot in front of him.

And none of the 3 has the speed to break up double plays.

Hate taking this approach with 70 games left but this season is heading down the toilet and doing so quickly.  Sure its better than last season, but its sad to think this year we'll be "out of it" by july.

Nyjer's still in their good graces from last year and is great in the clubhouse.  Guz has the 10/5 so moving him is a brutal chore.  Kennedy will stick around due to being cheap and someone who can stay buried if they move Guzman and they'll just not pick up the option next year.

Name them...don't just make crap up.

Martin got pulled against Baltimore after 4.1 with 3 unearned runs.  He's had 1 bad start, in Cleveland.  Tonight, with the rain delay, you pull him after 5 instead of running him out there for another inning.

I gave up on the game and went out to run some errands, but I didn't even bother to look up the games, relied on memory, you looked them up and accuse me of being wrong? hihi game before the Cleveland game. I said one as bad as today, Cleveland, and one almost as bad as today... That game? At Houston. Might not have given up a *lot* of runs, thus not being as bad as tonight and Cleveland, but that was a bad game considering eight hits, two home runs, in 5.2.

                              Inn Hits Runs ER HR
Jun 3 @ HOU L 4-6 - 5.2    8     3    2  2

Sorry, I don't call that a good game.

Quote
Martin has been in the minor leagues since 2001. He's dominated the minor leagues at every level. He's 27. What else do you think he can learn in a few more months?

I think he needs to go back down and work on his slider. Great, he was in the minors for several years. He'd never faced major league talent for any prolonged time. Now he has. His slider is extremely weak at times. Look at pitch tracks and what most of his hits/HRs were from tonights game. Sliders. At times it can be devestating for him, so I wouldn't say he needs to cut it from his selection. But do you think we need the major league team to cede wins so he can work on a pitch, or should he go back to the minors for a couple months to focus on that pitch where wins aren't a priority?

Espinosa tore up AA tonight, 5-5 with 2HR.  Still only batting .249, but 9 hits in his last 3 games, which I think is more than the Nats have had in their last 10.

Coming into tonight's game, the Nats have had 27 hits in the three games back from the break.

They're getting plenty of hits... none of them happen to be timely, though.

Wow. That's brutal.

I wonder how often a walk to Willingham ends with Rodriguez hitting into a double play. Ivan ends to be moved to the 9th or 10th spot.
