Perhaps Cupertino feels the boot about to applied to their throats?  :mg:

Good thing I'm using Ubuntu now.

The consumer preview is coming out on the 29th, the final version probably late this year, early next year?  I don't think they've said for sure.

With a stock price of over $500 Apple is arguably still undervalued compared to their competition, and the potential growth in the tablet/smartphone market in the next 10 years.

Maybe, maybe not.  Personally, I can't wait for all of these companies (Linkedin, Fecesbook, Apple, Google) to get exposed as the frauds they are so I can short them all into some serious freak you money.

I'm betting the Consumer Preview will be available for download on the 27th or 28th so that we can see it and be using it during the Mobile World Conference when it will be officially revealed.

the only problem is apple has no intrinsic monopoly- 1 year duds and they look ridiculous as the most valuable company in the world

The price of Apple's stock is completely detached from reality.

You could say that about any number of stocks though.

not really, their p/e is still pretty low compared to similar firms.

"nothing special" seems to be the theme of the article.  Any time a company that sells niche luxury items is valued that highly, I don't think it's possible to argue that they aren't overvalued with a straight face.

Or perhaps that's just their 12-18 month release schedule

I just wish I would have kept my stock instead of selling when I thought it was peaked at $300 a share.

If that's the case then this would have been expected.  The problem is that this dropped completely out of the blue.

5 "exciting" new features in 10.8:

Better iCloud integration - meh
Notification Center like iOS - meh
Gatekeeper (control whether you can install all apps, just the Mac App store apps, or Mac App store + "identified" developers) - meh
Unification with iOS (iCal -> Calender, iChat -> Messages, Notes) - meh
Game Center - meh

So far, 10.8 = "meh" for me.  Same as 10.7.  I don't want iOS on my PC, Apple.  It's a shame it's so hard to find decent well built Windows laptops.

So am I.  Lion and now Mountain Lion bring nothing that I feel is remotely "big" as new features.  I guess Mountain Lion is just supposed to be "Lion but better" just like Snow Leopard was "Leopard but better."  Not really anything to get excited about.

The first two sound ok (mostly because I share an apple ID with my wife to keep our personal calendars synced), but if the upgrade is more than $15, I'm standing pat at lion
