If you're due for a renewal there definitely shouldn't be $300 difference in price (should there?  Nathan?)

I think it's $200 ish right now, I'm just assuming there will be a bump.  Might stay 'round $200, though.  Either way.  I can't imagine it being less than that.

Right, the last couple of rounds of new iPhones were $199 with a new contract or renewal.  I don't know if that's supposed to still be the case with the ip5 or not, but I can't imagine the price on the ip4 dropping much more than 50 bucks under that.  Then again I'm not really on the up and up with Apple pricing.

So, would it be worth it to get an Iphone 4 when the 5's come out?  I've been thinking about making the switch to fancy phone land and am pretty close to pulling the trigger.  Assuming they slash prices on the 4's, will the upgrades be worth the extra $300 or so it would cost me to go with the shiny new toy?

rumors are iphone 4 goes to like $99 with the 5 being higher end. I'm going to upgrade my 3g to the 4 (mostly because the 3g is unbearably slow running the current ios and loading webpages and my wife's 4 seems really fast, however, apple has a tendency to release OS updates that all but brick their phones that are more than a generation old. I figure kindle fire +iphone 4 >iphone 5 at probably the same price point

That's my guess what happens.  iPhone 5 comes out at the same established $199 price point, 3GS is phased out, new 8GB version of the 4 takes over the $99 price point.

Iphone 5 coming soon (as soon as our most loyal customers have burned their discounted upgrade), just ordered my $99 iphone 4, thought about a droid, but I use a mac and my music is all on itunes, at this point I have no idea why a pc user would bother with iphones

Pretty much seems what the norm is going to be for them.  Major upgrade followed by minor update, repeat.  3G -> 3GS -> 4 -> 4S -> 5 -> 5S, etc.

I actually haven't looked at it at all so I don't even know what the 4S exactly is compared to the 4.

Don't know if this deserves it's own thread or not, but Steve Jobs has died.

Okay well it's true or it isn't.  I stand corrected or I don't.  Doesn't affect my life either way.

Btw, I want to note that I don't get my news from Twitter (most of the time :P). I always check CNN, and I happened to be watching CNN at the time.

Wait for it Chief. Dinosaur news takes time to catch up with Twitter.

I feel sorry for Jobs, seems like he worked himself to death.

Sadly, no matter how much money you have... You can't buy your way out of cancer.
