I
The MLB draft is nothing like the NFL draft. There are so many people that have that NFL thing down to a science. Here, I'm looking at a draft report that's all over the board. There were two guys picked early that weren't even on this guy's top 200 guys! Definitely makes it more interesting.

I heard earlier that there are about 1,500 players on the draft boards.

Did I just hear Harper on ESPN News say he hasn't decided whether or not he's going to stay at CSN another year?

Hardball negotiating. Hot air.

Cardinals take Cox at 25. Apparently dropped due to signability concerns. The Cardinals will love him and a lot of teams will regret passing.

Can't believe that he fell that far.

There's a serious problem with the draft when good players fall from small market teams to the back of the draft and the big market teams can throw the big bucks at them to come out.

Refreshing, isn't it? MLB still has a huge talent pool and scouts go out and do their jobs and have pull with front offices.

Unfortunately, the signability concerns affect the draft too...

Yeah, and we can always hold the threat of being drafted by Baltimore next year over his head.

He was just interviewed on Baseball Tonight.  He's at home, in Nevada.

Brett Eibner makes it through the first day. Awesome. Comeon, Rizzo, take the guy!!! That's a ton of value and upside for this spot.

I think James Paxton would be a great pick he played in indy ball this year doesn't have much leverage and has'd to be excited to start his professional career after sitting out a year.

I know some TAMU fans and I've never heard that name.

I live in Texas and I've never heard of Barret Loux.

Not knowing much about the field, I guess Workman is appealing...

Parker is a masher. Left handed bat that's slugged .606 this past season at UVA.

6'4", 210 CF'er.

Of course I love him cause he's a UVA guy... but he's a power bat at an uncommon position.

Another member of the Alou Crew. He would make the third generation to play for the Nats/Expos.

I would be all in for a CF Mark Reynolds or RZ.

I would LOVE Parker. After the draft last year he was projected to be a top 10 pick and he has that kind of talent. I have been to several UVA games this year and the kid can flat out play, has the tools to be a major leaguer tomorrow.
I also like Jessie Hahn, as a Hokie I have seen him pitch on several occasions, and IMO he has the stuff to be a major leaguer. He has a tough fast ball that I have seen around 97 but he just has trouble locating it at times (was his problem all of last year). He has a solid changeup but other than those 2 he doesn't have too much to write home about. If he can develop a strong 3rd pitch and locate the FB like he has been doing most of this year, he would be a tremendous pick up. At least in my eyes.

Wouldn't mind Austin Wates either. He has a beautiful swing and he is a good athlete but with no particular position. In the last game I went to of his he went 3-4 and all 4 of the ABs he absolutely punished the ball (similar to RY-Z with his consistency to hit the ball hard). I know it sounds like I'm being a homer to VT and UVA but hey, those are the only guys I have ever seen before and I know they are all solid options.

Why has Allie dropped so far?

Quote
28     Stetson Allie     RHP     Arm strength is near legendary, FB sits 92-96 and has touched 100, potential plus slider, likely reliever

Would love Parker.

Why has Allie dropped so far?

Bonus demands (UNC commit). He is the best player available ... likely a top 10 guy discounting bonus demands

He is really tempting at #51 but I figure Rizzo goes the college route. Brett Eibner or Brandon Workman are not too shabby themselves

I absolutely want a college guy. Best available college player would be all anyone can ask for. Parker seems to fit the bill IMO. thats who im hoping for.
