You didn't say Desmond can't be a big league SS, we should give up on him and get ready for Espinosa, etc.?  If not, I must have celebrated 4/20 in my sleep.

No, I didn't say that. I did say that Espinosa is the SS of the future for us (and that Desmond could end up in the OF), but I never said I didn't like Desmond (not over this offseason, at least. I didn't like him 3 years ago when he was just a Minor League showboat w/ no bat). I do think that Desmond is a below average defensive SS. He's impressed me with some of the plays he's made this year, but I think his overall numbers will end up below league average. Of course, I could be wrong. None of this had anything to do with Guzman.

None of that is crap talking or anything like that. I HOPE that all of our players do well.

Yeah, but I thought I read you saying Guzman will have a great bounce-back year or some crap.

Which is fine, but you shouldn't be crowing about it in mid-April. (if in fact you really were, but I have no idea any more)

I have a feeling Desmond is going to be our SS, with Espinosa/Kobernus battling for the 2B reigns.

I don't think I said that, but even if I did, my comment earlier was not "crowing."

I also called Dunn a "defensive specialist" today because he's been hitting like poo recently. Doesn't mean I was talking crap to the Dunn fans here. I like Dunn. Maybe you just don't understand me like Ryan Madson does.

Ryan Madson blew a save earlier against the Braves. What's up with him so far this year?

Ugh, if Olsen/Walker hadn't crap the bed tonight, the Nats could have been a half-game out in the east!!

If Marquis didn't crap the bed we could be ahead of the Braves and Marlins!

Very true.  If only it had been Pineiro.

He'll make up for it w/ two shutouts in the next month or so. He just hasn't been getting good movement on his pitches.

It sucks we lost tonight, especially seeing how we had an opportunity to inch closer to first.  oh well, still .500 and john lannan is on the bump tomorrow.  let's get 'em tomorrow.

Depends on how much you enjoy them. If they complete you each day (), then that's cool.

Sports don't do that for me. Well, maybe ND football. But there aren't too many of those games each year.

Not entirely.  If you still feel that way in July, you might need more hobbies.

I feel the same way at the moment.  It's April, baseball is back, and the Nats are actually sort of maybe decent this year.  Exciting times for us die-hards.

Hopefully they don't really burst our bubble in May.  I really want to take a big poster of a dead Oriole bird with a fork in it to Camden Yards.  Don't screw up my plan, bad-Nats.

I mean, recently I've had a busy schedule. Papers due, homework assignments, tests. Its been bullcrap. It seems having a cold beer or a few and watching the nats game is relaxing. I love it. I have one class tomorrow so I'll probably just play catch, work out and play xbox for a good amount of the day but it seems I'm anticipating 7 o'clock more than ever since we could witness another curly w for these .500 nats.

Fan is on tv.
Was wondering if I made it on.  Best nights to watch a game are always when there is a school field trip in your section.  The kids will do anything you say when you're wearing a donkey suit.

Too bad the Nats didn't give them a better show today.  Had a Nyjer Morgan chant going on and Nyjer slapped his knee to the beat while waiting for the pitch.

Willie Taveras totally lolly-gagged on a ball hit between him and Willingham that bounced over the wall.  Easily the 4th worst moment of my night.  Unacceptable and should have been pulled immediately.

The other 3 worst moments were seeing Riggleman not double switch to put in Walker when he was due up next in the order and then seeing him leave Walker in to bat TWICE including the second time with 2 outs and men on 2nd and 3rd.

I think Desmond needs to go down.  Alberto "The General" is having much better at bats than him and we're killing his development at this point.

Are you freaking kidding?  First of all, Desmond is hitting fine overall.  Even with the ugly AB's against breaking pitches, he has a perfectly acceptable (if not decidedly GOOD) batting line for a SS.

Second of all, he's never going to learn to hit MAJOR LEAGUE breaking balls sitting at AAA.

Third, ALBERTO???  Do you remember how godawful he was for us as a starter?  What development??  The dude should be "developed" by now.  He's 27 (peak age for most players).  If that happens, my blood is on your hands.  :hang:

I agree with all of this. Desmond is doing fine. He needs to see MLB pitches and pitchers to get good AB's. He's getting solid hits and swings in each game. I think he's doing fine overall.

Might as well let Desmond learn to hit ML pitches in the majors. Can't learn in the minors.

Gonzalez starting does nothing for this franchise. Neither does Guzman.

Gonzalez is a good utilityman. That's why he was traded for.

Guzman, I just don't get the hate for him. He's hitting great and playing decently all over the field.

Its not that I hate Guzman for being on this team. I just hate the use of him per Riggleman. Yeah, lets place him in the three hole. Yeah lets bat him 2. Put him in the back of the lineup. Yeah lets play Guzman when Desmond had a good bat the game before. Just my only problem. Since hes owed so much money it seems like hes liable to play atleast once or twice a series.

Only on days they loose.

on the whole, I gotta say, I like my seats on the Porch better than the Lexus club - it's nice being that close to home plate, but I'll go back to hanging out with Nyjer in center field.

When asked about his struggles last night Olsen said:

Quote
"The arm's fine. There's no pain," Olsen said. "It's just a matter of executing. The other day, we did a good job of that. We were down in the zone. We threw offspeed pitches for strikes when we had to. Today, we were just six inches off."

Is he referring to the little man on his shoulder or what?

Usher staff really dropped the ball last night. Some derelict from section 102 plopped down in the seat next to me saying his ticket number was "Blue 9-1-1" and thus he could sit anywhere he pleased. I naturally called Security.
